Not a surprise at all. This USA team was worst NBA representing team ever. Even worse than 2002 and 2004 teams.

The team was arguably better than the Houston Rockets have been over the last few years. It was still a far superior USA team compared to any other team in the competition.

How come you finish 5th-8th when you're so superior ?
That was a well deserved win for France.
I won't blame team USA, at least those players dared to show up while the «stars» are resting and don't even care about what should be an honour, I mean wearing your country's jersey.

The majority of the US team are from 1 team. This loss falls on them. What an embarassment.
Coach Pop is proven. Kerr was there as well. This is just the embarassing play of those players.

Majority means more than half. Four players were from one team. Of those four, Tatum was out with an ankle sprain and Kemba hasn't actually played with BOS yet. So your "majority" is down to two players out of 11 that suited up played on the same NBA team last season, Brown and Smart. Double that up with Middleton and Lopez from MIL.

But why blame it on the guys that showed up? Why not blame the guys that failed to show up like Lebron and AD? Show up or shut up as the saying goes... kind of.

As a Canadian fan, I am pumped about this and not because you lost; I won't ever cheer for France in anything. I just hope this gets the US stars back in the games, so the Canadian NBA players will also join. It's the Rich Paul's of the world who are scaring players about playing in these tournaments. As a sports fan, the greed of these agents is super annoying and along with the stupid FIBA timelines making it tougher for these players are the main two things bringing down the participation in these events. I think you are guaranteed to see an American team at the Olympics next year where the only guys that have a chance of making it from this roster are Kemba and Donovan.

Really? Houston? Like that's something to compare. That team looks like a depth team with no real star power. It was only a matter of time before they got whipped. Pretty sure most don't really care about the world cup but setting up for 2 years down the road.

Well, to be fair, this is the first US loss in 59 games. That's a pretty good showing. Everyone has got to lose sometime. Clearly France had the best player and continuity on their side.

As you said, I put this loss on all the US players that failed to show up rather than on the players that did. But also, France earned it... They played great!

Congrats from the US. Good luck in the rest of the tournament!!!

Meh
Bunch of bums anyway--on the scale of who is best.
I don't think any of the guys were even top 5 for position - most probably much worse than that.
None of the Juggernauts showed up
Kemba and Mitchell probably should have been backups if we were taking it serious--and they are likely 2 of the better pieces.

With 2+ of any of these: Lebron/AD/Harden/Curry/Lilliard/Draymond/PG/Butler then I'd be shocked

Fading patriotism, faith, and morals among the younger generations will make this worse. The socialist/Communist agenda perpetuated by anti americans like AOC, Omar, and Talib, pretending everything that they don't agree with is racism doesn't help and neither does that ideology being pushed by colleges. Its going to get much worse before it gets better. France earned that win and it just goes to show that the US team didnt have their heart in it. Just going through the motions.

:rofl2:

Always love to see boomers who had their brains rotted by Reaganism rant over how younger generations no longer buy their bull.

Anyway, feel bad for Mitchell, but am thrilled for Gobert. Maybe now people will finally take the Jazz seriously.

I doubt this USA team would make playoffs in the West. Maybe in the East as 7-8 seed.

Fading patriotism? Dude die off already faith in a invisible white guy in the sky, morals according to the old regime were not moral. Google some info before you start posting you know on the computer not fox news. People like you who want religious stuff in politics and sports are the worst. You have the freedom to worship not everyone is like you (everyone has that freedom )
But you haven't paid attention to what's happening otherwise you'd not have posted dumb rethoric. Go be a nationalist faith mongering moral high ground douche somewhere else. This is a sports site.
