OT: 18 year anniversary of 9/11. Where were you?

Post#1 » by Dominator83 » Wed Sep 11, 2019 8:32 pm

Now just to get this out of the way, mods feel free to lock or move if people wanna make this a political or conspiracy thread. Im just curious as to know where my fellow posters in this great community were? Also genuinely interested in knowing how many of you guys weren't even born yet! This morning i heard Mike Golic jr bring up the point that we have now reached the point where people that are in college or less aren't old enough to have either been around or remember it in real time. That really blew me back and made me say "damn im getting old fast"

To answer my own question, i was a senior in high school driving to school listening to 670 the score (chicago) and they mentioned that a plane crashed and went into the WTC. At that point in time, it was only the 1st plane and wasn't mentioned as a terrorist attack yet. It was after i arried to school that the 2nd plane hit and it was quickly realized as to what was going on.

Where were you guys when it happened?

University, one of the first days of first year. Woke up to my roommate saying I wouldn't believe it and I should come to the common room.

I was just arriving from work. I put the news on and there was the 1st tower burning and they were saying it was an accident. I live in Spain, so it was in the afternoon here.

Just came home from morning practice. Turned on the TV and it seemed unreal for the first couple of minutes. Then I called my best friend and said that the world had just changed forever...

I was at work in Edison, NJ.

We could see both towers from the windows of the building.

It was tough to watch, I mostly focused on work.

Wasn’t old enough to remember it. Also I think it’s kinda weird that we’re hearing less and less about it the past few years. This was the first huge tragedy in my lifetime, so I’m sure that’s how it is with most issues like this. Still just weird.

It was about 10pm local time, I was about to go to bed when news broke of a plane accidentally hitting the tower. Flicked cable channel over to a US station like CNN and watched live as the second plane hit and the news team and coverage realised that it wasn’t an accident, it was an attack. Watched til about 3am before getting up for school a few hours later

I was in India at my uncles house during school break between 4th and 5th grade. Didn't really think much of it until I came back for 5th grade and suddenly everyone was racist.

6th grade in my first period class with Ms Kolby. Crazy how everyone in that class will all share the same memory for the rest of our lives. As kids, we didn't understand the magnitude of what happened, we just wanted an excuse to go home. Some Pennsylvania schools let out, but ours didnt.

2nd grade in class. School was maybe 20-25 mins from the towers. Could see the smoke when my parents came to pick me up. Had to take a cab home cause all the trains were down. Remember my mom bitching about it lol.

Was lucky to have only 1 friends/family be in the vicinity. She still deals with the after affects tho
