Any other US team would have put the pressure on their mediocre PGs, turned them over and got themselves going in transition. The fact that they havent been able to do it even ONCE this tourney is stunning.

with Fox gone who is going to do it? Kemba is allergic to defense and mitchell is too busy chucking

Turkey and Australia are not big-time teams. The NBA needs to address how soft they have made the game. It's making our players and the product worse.

Yeah it was correct. As our commentator said, this is the worst USA national team ranking at World cups. (even when they played with college guys)

Yeah, in retrospect, Fox would have been better for this tournament than any guard on the roster. He would create a lot of havoc on both ends.

Overall, though, this team is small and full of non-shooters. They have the same weaknesses as a HS or college team. That's not a coincidence. The NBA has made the rules softer so that more advanced development is no longer needed to succeed. Guys can now succeed in the NBA with mid-level skills.

People are trying to tell that for a while now, but no they are so athletic, there was never better defenders and better basketball played. 80s and 90s players would eat this sorry bunch alive.

but i mean this was a given we woudlnt win gold. its basically the celtics plus mitchell and turner. adding to fringe all-stars to a lotto celtics team wont cut it

So, it's official. The winner of Poland - Czech Republic will finish higher in the standings than the US.

It's funny that either Poland or Czech Republic will finish higher than US :D

Popovich lost this game by keeping White long time into the 4th quarter, they went from -2 to -10 and that was it. Don't know whose reputation took bigger hit because of this tournament, White's, Kemba's , Turner's or Popovich's reputation ?

The problem isn't the rules that the NBA enforces, even though I agree they should make it less "soft". The main problem is them sending out the F squad and expecting to win. The world has gotten better and the US should've taken a more serious approach, which I'm expecting they will next year on the Olympics.

Legit? In America, only the number 1 or 2 contenders matter. We don't care about team number 5, 6 or 7. Australia is not a bad team whatsoever. But, they not Serbia, Spain or France. Greece, Lithuania, Argentina, Croatia, Slovenia and Australia are in the next group.

There's a big difference between good teams that compete, and the powerhouses. Australia is not a powerhouse and should never beat America. There's deeper issues related to the development of American players and the rules of the NBA.

A consolation prize. I'm even happy a bit. :)

2nd to beat USA after 13 years in tournament games. (after France)

We came a long way when its underachievement for Serbia to be 5th in a World.

Well done guys, proud of you after all. See you on a Olympic qualification tournament. Goo Serbia.

This is new. Yesterday it was refs and lighter FIBA ball

No, yesterday our team was not good enough, just like today. Today, the motivation is simply not there either. What’s the point of it, just to risk an injury?

I always said this is not a strong team and on top of the average talent level, it doesn’t have great balance either.

Likely candidates :

Ricky RUbio
Patty Mills
Evan Fournier
Joe Ingles
Rudy Gobert

It's one player per top 4 + one more from the winner or one from the top 5. I guess if Serbia gets the 5th place they'll include Bogdanovic if not it's gonna be Ricky, Campazzo, Ingles, Gobert + Mills/Founrier/Gasol/Scola

If someone told me I wouldn't give a single **** that we won against USA in this tournament...

Australia starts 4 NBA players with a former No.1 NBA pick (Bogut) off the bench. And our other No.1 pick and arguably strongest player (Simmons) + more NBA players didn't even play.
