Wasn't Joe Johnson pretty much done when he hung it up a year or two ago? Winning the 3v3 tourney of old timers doesn't mean he can contribute much to an NBA team. Maybe he can in limited minutes, I dunno.

IDK where JJ would find minutes. Seems that at PG/SG/SF the vast majority will be eaten by Lillard, McCollum, Bazemore, Hood and Simmons. And I don't think JJ is better ATM than any of those guys. I wish that Lillard / CJ would be given 32mpg during the RS to keep the fresh, but realistically I think it will be closer to:
PG - Damian Lillard (35) / Anfernee Simons (13)
SG - CJ McCollum (34) / Kent Bazemore (10) / Anfernee Simons (5)
SF - Kent Bazemore (15) / Rodney Hood (28) / Mario Herzonja (15)
I suppose he could take Mario's minutes, but with the low upside of JJ I would rather gamble that Mario pans out then if he sucks go after a vet in FA midseason (Thabo maybe).

Yeah, it's a long season followed by a deep playoff run. We need bodies that can holdup. It's bad enough we are taking a risk at 3rd string center. We have to take this risk because there isn't any young 7 footers with Gasol's skills we can get. We have wings with talent we can develop.

To me it all just depends on where you fall on the Ant is a scorer not a playmaker debate. If he can put enough pressure on the defense with his playmaking then you can probably play:
Ant
Bazemore
Herzonja
Skal
Gasol
Better length and athleticism. Shooting possibilities at 1-5. Shooting question marks at 3 and 4.

Would anyone want Luc Mbah A Moute? Seems like he's often been a role player on good teams, and has that 3 and D ability at the forward positions.
From what I understand he's been hurt and that's why he isn't signed? So maybe that could work out bringing him in as a guy who isn't really needed but could be an improvement to the rotation once he's healthy. He might be taking his time to recover and then sign with a contending team though.

Not really...he's a worse 3pt shooter and defender than Aminu, so I'm not sure I'd call his ability "3 and D". He's a good defender though...
I think the Blazers signed Tolliver for that role--as well they should have. He's a much more complete offensive player which will fit Stotts' system better in the short term.
