He has built a certain persona, hard to shake first impressions

Probably relieved he only made a duo not a big 3. If he wanted that he would have gone to the Lakers and that would have been twice as worse. The lesser evil was the Clippers

I personally take no issue with players expressing a desire to play with other great players, publicly or privately. If it's gonna happen its gonna happen.

He didn’t lead the 2014 Spurs to a championship.

I have no hate for Kawhi. He's just a guy who ultimately wanted to play where he grew up, and that's what happened. And really, he'll have waited until he was 28 until that finally happens, so it's not as if he's spent most of his career playing where he wants. He had to wait until he was an UFA.
Sure, he forced other moves by making a team cave into his demands, but that's the power of a superstar in this league. We've seen it before. But people should really apologize to the Spurs for thinking they somehow mistreated him and drove him out of town. The guy was plotting his way to LA the entire time, LOL.

Adrian Wojnarowski: Not if people make calls on him. Not if an organization is doing their homework and knows all the things he brings with him.

Hate? I was adressing the double standards..or the double standards i thought existed which was proven wrong.

How?
Woj randomly says Kawhi and PG talked right before FA, something he never mentioned before, while Kawhi was a FA. Then people added a bunch of their own assumptions to it.
The “heatles” colluded when Lebron and Bosh were both under contract during the season.
KD and Kyrie made plans a long time ago.
The Warriors were chasing KD during the playoffs.
Lebron, AD and Klutch turned AD’s last season with the Pelicans into a s***show.
We could go on and on.

I do think there's a valid point here.
If people want to be mad at the Clippers for basically stalking Kawhi all season that's one thing... but Kawhi is like the only guy who actually waited until the proper time to have FA discussions.

Im seriously wondering why people are trying to force that narrative? 2014 spurs were poetry in motion it wasn't one guy carrying the load.

He went to to toe with Lebron James and that was huge.
Even if we wanna discredit 2014, what about 2019?

2009 - 1st round exit and only won 1 game
2010 - 2nd round sweep
2011 - lost 1st round 2-4
That's 7 playoff wins in three years, horrible for the TD era. They lacked athleticism and that's why they tried with the failed Richard Jefferson experiment. Kawhi was the x factor that gave them athleticism and defense on the wing they been missing since Bruce Bowen left. By 2014 finals, Kawhi would not only be the main guy guarding Lebron but also spurs best scorer.

Thank you. The revisionist history is the discrediting of how much Kawhi's development gave that team a reboot

Toe to toe? Alright...I mean he was damn on D in the Finals on Bron, but he wasn't shouldering the same load as him. The 2014 Spurs were like the ultimate team effort, and any Spurs fan will tell you Tim Duncan was still the overall best player on that team (he was 1st team all-NBA the season prior). I'm just tried of this "Kawhi led the teams 2 different teams to rings! / Kawhi led the Spurs to a chip!" bs that keeps getting thrown around. I appreciate his contributions to the team and he was a vital cog but he did not carry anyone to a ring. Hell if he didnt choke at the line the year before we'd have an extra ring too

2012 is also the year that Duncan slimmed down, Spurs got rid of deadweight Jefferson, grabbed Diaw and revived him, traded for Captain Jack, Danny Green really coming onto the scene, TP having (another) all-star year, Splitter finally getting minutes, etc. Yes, Kawhi was a cog in that. NO ONE IS SAYING HE WAS NOT. But he did not LEAD the Spurs to rings. He was the man on our 2015-2017 teams that were all sadly disappointments.
Once again, Kawhi was a part in all that. But to me, the biggest part was Duncan's resurgence. He was looking close to done in 2010, and over the next couple years he slimmed down, changed his diet, restricted his minutes, and really took a backseat on offense and focused more on overall team play and defense. It's no surprise he ended up being 1st team in 2013 as an old man. He was also carrying the Spurs against the Clippers in 2015 as an even older man when Kawhi was choking in the last 3 games of the series. So yeah, Kawhi deserves credit, but he is just a piece in the overall puzzle

Kawhi+PG on the Clippers makes a damn good team on paper, but they aren't (or shouldn't be) a prohibitive favorite. I personally think Philly has the highest ceiling of any team and consider them the best team on paper.
No way. The Clippers are definitely the favourites and I think it’s clear. You’ve got two top wings in the game in their primes, a terrific supporting cast and depth, and a better coach. The Sixers lose in comparison from a coaching standpoint, experience, and depth. Unless Simmons comes out and shocks the world with a shot and either their young guns play a la Shamet or they pick up some quality depth, the Clippers are definitely the favourites.
FWIW, none of this discussion revolves around health. Both teams have potential health concerns (Embiid, PG, Kawhi).

You are not going to change the mind of Kawhi Playerfans who are not associated with any fanbase, and they just enjoy Basketball through the personal success of said player.
Conversing with them is going to irritate you and by the end of the exchange you'll say to yourself "What's the point?"
My friendly advice is-if a basketball fan cares only about the name on the back of the jersey and you care about the logo and the name on the front of the jersey, just accept that you enjoy the game in a different way and move on.
(HBK_Kliq brought me pretty close to smashing my keyboard one time when he fully supported that the elimination from the 2015 Playoffs from the Clippers was Tim's fault more than it was Kawhi's.)
