i don't know if that's exactly a ringing endorsement

man, dsj needs to attack the basket and be a good defender because that jumpshot is broken.

looks good to me

what's good about it?

is it the hitch that's good or the fact that he's shooting on the way down that's good?

I don't see a hitch and his release point is decent.

If frank dominates defensively and impresses with that corner 3, I see him slotted into that 2 guard.

Frank shot is almost perfect. Not worried about DSJR, though.

The first day of Knicks coach Dave Fizdale’s second training camp was focused on a new wrinkle to his game plan — full-court defense.

“We did one-on-one full court (Tuesday),” Fizdale said after their first practice. “Everybody. The bigs, the wings and the guards had to defend each other one-on-one full-court live. Just to get them to understand we have to play defense like that to have a chance to win games.”

“Coach was just telling us he wants us to be a great defensive team,’’ Barrett said. “The only way it’s going to be happen is to keep working at it like we are.”

Fizdale, despite coming out of Pat Riley’s defense-first Heat system, never established a defensive identity for the Knicks during last season’s 17-65 campaign. They finished 29th in defensive rating, allowing 114.6 points per 100 possessions.

The Knicks coach admitted he mixed it up – maybe too much – with schemes.

“We experimented a lot last year,’’ Fizdale said. “We looked at a lot of different stuff, what fits best for our team. We feel like what we’re doing now is the best package for them.”

Fizdale said he also changed the offensive script for an older club that is more ready to handle it.

“We changed a whole lot,’’ Fizdale said. “Now I feel like we’ve got a team that can retain information and execute what you’re trying to do a little bit better. I feel like, again, the versatility that we have I want to do things that utilizes that versatility and maximizes it as much as possible.”

Team last year was too stupid to retain information, # of players returning from last year:

Knox
Frank
Dot
DSJr
Trier
Mitch

Either the Knicks only retained the guys who can retain information and everyone they let go are the dummies, or Fiz is blowing smoke here a bit. I'm going with choice #3

He's redundant with Mitchell on the roster.

He can go to Westchester, get developed for a year, then be on the team

If any defense was played at all, it would be a major tweak

It would be such a tweak, MSG would be full of meth addicts.

Eh, much like the Knicks, my jokes aren't ready for the season yet.

You don't experiement with some busch league ish like that if you believe in the guy. You don't experiment with Wade at PF, Duncan at PG, Kobe at C, etc. You let the rest of the team fall around wherever that guys natural position is. Looking at last years roster, it was terrible. If Ntilikina was not played at the PG position then, he never will be.

One of these is not like the other

We've seen Frank at PG also and he didn't look good there either. I think there were a few factors that led to him being switched around

1. He never established a clear position for himself
2. Our depth last year sucked
3. We were tanking so we could afford to shuffle things around

Exactly why is this so hard to grasp

If Frank actually shows up he will get more of an opportunity lol

Not to mention he missed 40’games due to injury

Lets see if Fiz sticks with this you gotta earn your mins thing

Also Frank does not have to play PG lol. Hes big enough to play the 2 or 3 as well. As long as he hits that 3 consistently like he did in Fiba he can thrive as a wing or point foward

The best value of Frank is playing him at PG. If he's only talented enough to be a backup PG, then so be it. He makes good decisions with the ball, is a decent passer and plays the best defense of any Knick guard, especially on PG's. His value, which people aren't sold on anyway, takes a major hit when he starts guarding 2's and 3's, who are taller and stronger than 95% of all PG's, negating one advantage of Frank, and his offense, which is bad enough for a PG, but at least he runs a team fairly well/there is hope there, is MUCH worse when compared to scoring production people generally associate with wings.

Or, if he's coming off the bench, I'd guess it's possible to work the rotations where he guards the other teams PG on defense, but plays whatever on offense. This is the scenario where the Knicks keep him as a jack of all trades defense guy off the bench.
