Not going to be drawn into an "PG wars" just yet. If I am, I'm going to be team Payton, for maximum annoyance.

Anyway, hopefully Frank has enough 3 to go with his defense. Since he seems to be able to function, to one level or another, from 1-3, IF that shot is there, there's some intriguing stuff that can go on with him in the bench rotation, where there are players that can facilitate, to one degree or another, from DSJr to RJ to Randle to Trier.

Overall, I'd like the team to be as good as possible. Even if it's for trades.

if they're gonna turn randle into a point forward and if they let rj be a playmaker too, you really only need defense and shooting from the 1.

None of the 1's can shoot, so that's an issue

Eh if you knew where Marcus and Markieff were actually from and their backgrounds you would know he's not joking around. He is actually a tough guy.

I can believe Morris more than most guys, it was more a general statement

But you gotta admit, we've heard this same spiel every year, and the team absolutely does not walk the walk

He sure was tough picking on 3rd string PGs at half court

How about Joakim "I wanna be an animal for the city" Noah. I get his body was broken down, but still applies

I'm just sick of hearing it every year. I want to see results. Not even really results, just effort at least. That was the one thing I never got on Burke about was, he was an objectively bad defender, but he was at least out there giving effort as far as I saw. Similar thing with DSJ, he's not a naturally great defender, but I don't see him as lazy, he does put the effort in and his metrics are solid, which backs up what I see from the eye test

The thing is, out of the three of Morris/Randle/Knox, at least one of them is gonna have to be benched, and no matter who you pick, it's not a good choice. Especially because Morris is the only one who's any good on defense, so if our theme is defense/toughness first, Knox isn't touching the floor, and Randle shouldn't be getting many minutes. Which is why I don't want to hear it because we just don't have the personnel to be a gritty, defensive team first and foremost

Just don't bullsh*t me with that. We're gonna be at best average on defense with our personnel. I just want to see them giving effort.

Which is why we hear it every year

It's kinda cyclical in a way. FA comes in, says "this is New York, we're gonna be tough, don't disrespect us, we're gonna be a defensive team" yadda yadda, everyone gets hype, says "this guy gets it, he's real NY tough, not fake NY tough like the last guy that said it," then next thing you know, it's December and the only reason we haven't set records for ineptitude on defense is because the Cavs exist

I don't want to hear guys talking about being tough. Real tough guys don't have to constantly tell you they're tough guys
