just last week i was walking past front/york downtown toronto and recalled thats where i went after winning the chip and celebrating with the fans, felt nostalgic and all the go train ride home rewatched raptors clips on youtube.

even delon.

there definitely is an inefficiency the raptors are exploiting in getting players who are perceived to have "reached their prime potential".

between scouting, and more importantly developing and giving them a chance raptors won a chip.

remember all the hate this board had when they passed on skal lassibier who couldnt even start for his college team and selected pascal.

That is one of the funniest/defining moments of this board. Skal still sucks and everyone forgot about him. I've been on board with most of the moves TD, Dewan, Konate, Thomas...but for the life of me, I cannot defend the Payne acquisition. I hope they saw something I haven't seen but my god does he still not look good in the workout vids.

I hear ya, he is a G league player, but if it makes you feel any better, the dude's first year isn't even fully guaranteed. Not a hard guy to ditch.

honestly think we signed Cam just for the training camp battles. Dont think they had much of an expectation he makes the roster, and definetly not part of the rotation

OK so now that I understand Payne is low risk. I think the logic is that of our three reclamation projects: RHJ, Stanley Johnson and Payne one of them should pan out.

We have the 3 reclamation projects I just mentioned and a few actual projects in: Konate, Boucher, Dewan, McCaw. It's like you balance your investment portfolio with low and high risk. There is certainly a method to Masai's moves.

Should we still consider McCaw a project or a rotational player? Konate and Dewan are for sure. Boucher is actually solid and should be a rotational player. I like your analogy for investments. I see the reclamation projects as a basket of high beta investments where most will probably flame out but if one goes to 3-5x it's value it would all be worth it. My guess is that would not be Payne and most likely Stanley Johnson.
Ska needs to make a comeback.

I don't think we can consider him a rotational player until he's in the rotation. Last year he looked so lost. I also think the thing that defines him as a project is where he is in relation to where he could be. He still strikes me as a potentially valuable player. Last year you could see him asking so many questions on the court, especially when entering a game. This leads me to believe he is still really raw in terms of learning the game.

Hopefully Stanley is our teams Beyond Meat :o

I'm still a big believer in McCaw. He's a consistent jump shot away (that's a big 'if', of course) from being really good imo. He has solid ball skills, size, athleticism, defensive instincts, good motor. He checks a lot of boxes - just needs to knock down shots.

McCaw is still very raw, but he's already a very good passer IMO. I really like his quickness, court vision, and size at the point guard position. If he pans out even somewhat, he could be a solid and impactful contributor.

I just watched some of the training camp interviews on Raptors.com. Certain reporters ask the French-speaking Raptors players questions in French, and the subtitle reads, "speaking in foreign language". :o

I mean, camp was in Quebec...

If that's the case im not Shocked at all. I've never been sold on tunnel vision powell being consistent for a whole season. He'll give you flashes during the season and the playoffs, but it's never consistent for the whole season. That's a 6 man at best. McCaw must have impoved his shooting a lot because I predicted Thomas would have taken Norms starting spot.
