He's 4-15 (26%) from the field and 3-11 (27%) from deep so far through two games this preseason.

And I expect him to miss half the season due to injury.

He's simply not a good shooter, "new shooting form" or not. You can polish a turd, but at the end of the day it's still a turd.

My expectation is even if he's significantly improved he'll be overshadowed by Zion.

16 assists to just 3 turnovers in just 44 minutes. That plus his defense makes a damn good fit. Just needs to get that 3pt shot to around 35% to be a perfect fit for the Pels.

Yea I think his new shot is much worse than his old one which was pretty good most of the time. Still probably a top 3 PG if he maintains last seasons play. Just needs to stay healthy

I'm just glad that people will be able to finally see his talent now that he isn't wearing a Laker jersey.

Wait so if he is good as last season, your list is something like:

Stephen Curry
Damien Lillard
Lonzo Ball
.
.
.
Kemba Walker
Kyrie Irving
De'Aaron Fox
Trae Young
Ben Simmons
.
.
.

Not sure if you are serious.

To be clear, you guys are talking about 15 total shots in the preseason. Right?

15 shots in 44 minutes. So basically 1 game's worth of minutes and shots for some people. Again he shot 33% from 3 last year, if he bumps that up 2% he is at 35% which is respectable. He doesn't need to be a high volume scorer, he just needs to play elite defense (he's capable of that), facilitate at an elite level (we know he is capable of that) and be able to hit 3s at a respectable rate and he is the perfect PG for this offense.

For some reason I think if he went 9/15 and 7/11 from three, we would be hearing "hold on, let's not draw conclusions. It's only pre-season on 15 shots". :)

people calm down with the double digits assists, with Jrue and the pelicans wanting him to play "MVP" level and reddick he is obviously coming from the bench. so he probally be like 12-6-5 in 20-25min

I don’t trust his health. He seems awfully frail still.
