Makes what he did with Shaq and guys like that so much more impressive. Shaq probably had 5-6 inches and close to 60-100 lbs on him and yet Ben was as solid as a rock in the post. One tough mf'er.

Between the fro and how wide and strong he was I don’t think his size was ever a real issue for him. But real talk he’d struggle to find a role in current nba.

Eh I don't agree with that. I think he would just be a better defensive version of Capela in today's NBA. Good defensive centers can always find a place in the league.

Maybe off the bench on some teams. But he wasn’t very mobile (more of an all time great post defender) and he was an absolute zero offensively. I don’t think he’d be worth it for many teams since centers have to guard the perimeter more now than those days. Guys like Capela and Gobert can at least do some basic things offensively.

I don't really think that is accurate. Someone who was a very good post defender, but not mobile in space is someone like Bargnani or Hibbert.

Ben was a was really good in space for a big. I think his pure post defense was a touch below his ability to roam around the paint defensively and control the glass. That is why someone like Eddy Curry was able to have multiple 20 pt games facing Ben.

Oakley always played with heart and gave 100% BUT...the bottom line is that when we faced the Bulls, they'd put Pippen on him (not Grant -- he'd cover Mason, X-Man, etc... 'cause: (1) they wanted Grant closer to the basket for rebounds; and (2) it allowed Pippen to get out on the break easier). If Oakley would have had ANY post-up game, the Knicks probably beat the Bulls a few times and maybe have another championship or two. Frankly, it's ridiculous that Oakley would let such a smaller player (both height and weight) guard him in a game regardless of how good a defender Pippen was. You know, if you're playing pick-up ball and being guarded by a guy 2 inches shorter and much lighter, you'd take him in the post. Oakley did NONE of that -- it's unbelievable!

I'd like to see Randle do more doing and less watching.

Notwithstanding all of those offseason weight-lifting pics, he looked out of shape on the court to me.

He couldn't keep up with Davis Bertans running up the court

Dude looked like he was going to fall on his face trying to catch up to Bertans before pointing for somebody to pickup Bertans for him. We aren't talking about some elite level athlete in Bertans here, soooo.....yeah.....

Come on guys! It's like some of you just started watching basketball! Vets do not try in Preseason. They play just hard enough so they don't get injured. Why are some of you killing vets for their play in 2 meaningless Preseason games when we have seen what they can do when the real games start? Preseason is just for rookies and second year players.

I’m sorry I love this kids mindset and his quotes, he’s focused on the right things and he has done nothing but improve since he got in the league...

All of y’all that are down on Randle are straight bugging, this kid is no where near his peak

Whoever put those stats together hasn't watch our first two preseason games. He just hasn't looked comfortable out there so far. It's still very early.

Perhaps they are projecting what his production will be with Fizdale’s stellar coaching and next gen system basketball?

Macri is just saying that Randle's usage will be that high.

Those #'s aren't saying that Randle will be efficient or effective. Hence predicting 5 TO's as well.

it wasn't efficient or all that effective when westbrook or boogie did it either

won't happen though. washington figured out how to stop him after 1 game. just double him when he gets in the paint and let the rest of the starting lineup shoot.
