I may be in the minority but I don't want to see Bembry as any type of facilitator. It's almost dead ball time when he has it because he has tunnel vision. Ewww.

My observation was the Hawks have a pretty good defense this year. Not sure the Magic had an open look all night.

With that in mind:

‘Baby steps’ taken on defense, but Hawks fall to Magic

The Hawks faded in the fourth quarter of their second preseason game, losing to the Orlando Magic 97-88 Wednesday at State Farm Arena, though they showed improvement defensively from their loss to the Pelicans Monday. Defensively, the Hawks took some “baby steps,” in coach Lloyd Pierce’s words, after allowing the Pelicans 133 points. Atlanta held Orlando to 37.6 percent from the floor (29.4 percent from 3-point range) and showed better all-around effort on defense. The Hawks aim to hold teams below 25 points per quarter, which they achieved in the first (allowing 18) and third (allowing 24). DeAndre’ Bembry and Trae Young each had three steals.

I think Trae forgot how to dribble over the summer, WTF.

I think Hunter and Fernando were the only two players who didn't stink up the gym last night.

I was really annoyed with Bob Rathbun last night. He kept saying that Markelle Fultz had a major injury and surgery last November. Completely not true. At least twice he talked about him having to recover from surgery. As we all know, Fultz never had surgery. He had some PT. Pretty much the exact opposite of having surgery. I guess I'll let him off the hook for the "major injury" part and call it semantics.

Basically when you give strong effort on the defensive end, your offense execution tends to suffer. Obviously if you cherry pick on defense most plays you have more energy for offense. That's why I like my guy Bembry who expends most of his energy on defense.
