Is there anybody still regretting the DeMar trade?
Even without Kawhi this team is moving into a future with cap flexibility, decent prospects, and most importantly a winning culture after winning it all.
Are there people still on this board that think we are better off with DeMar as one of our max players? Is it simply because of loyalty?

More like a filter thread, because anyone who still thinks that needs to get filtered out of this forum.

The trade obviously was a mistake
Would you rather have a banner that lasts forever that future generations will see
Or a good player for whom your memory will eventually fade and future generations won't even know
Obviously the latter.

Huge regrets. One chip with Kawhi, but possibly multiple titles with Demar.
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars
Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid
There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

I'll be putting anyone on the ignore list if you regret the trade.

Right we could've had another 3 or 4 Divison titles. Instead all we got was 1 NBA title.

Probably Demar Derozan still does
DraftExpress
What's funny is that I had lunch with Terrence Ross' agent yesterday. We talked about every possible scenario. Toronto never came up.

Carroll was a bust. Glad we got rid of him.

Even if we were really bad this year it's the right move. Now that we're seeing glimpes of us still being elite you'd be a special kind to regret this trade.
BTW, wishing we still had DeMar can occur in the same mind that knows we needed to trade him. He was a great kid and the only guy to ever be 100% loyal to this franchise. Nothing wrong with wishing we had him.

I was vocally against it at the time. My argument was why not wait and deal Demar mid season when he’d re-couped his value. Even if the package was only say Reggie Jackson + Luke Kennard + FRP you still also have Poeltl and our pick (likely low 20s) to help rebuild, We probably would have dealt Lowry as well. Surely three FRPs, even non-lottery, plus Poeltl and whatever else is better than one year of Kawhi and Danny right?
Then we won the title. It’s impossible to argue against that. Obviously you pick the championship and the memories every single time. But we were also four lucky bounces on the rim from possibly being a second round exit. If that had happened there’d be some serious buyer’s remorse around here. Let’s not get it twisted.

I was just happy to get rid of Demar and Casey and their trashball, chip or no chip. The fact that we got a championship makes it so much better.
We are already a much better team than whatever we were in the Demar/Casey era.
I'd have a beer with Demar, he was a good dude. I wouldn't build a team around him though.

Signed with team T.W.O for the 2022-23 2023-24 season.

Bruh what, I'm gonna take my memories of the 2019 championship to the grave.
Players are temporary, banners are forever. I never imagined in my wildest dreams the Raptors would have a shot at a title let alone winning it all.
I love DeMar, he was the best he could be during his time here and repped Toronto and Canada more than anyone ever...but I'll take the championship anyone who thinks different is silly.

Best trade Raptors ever made in franchise history.
Still love Demar though.

Poeltl is not very good my friend. Lottery picks and scrub players don't guarantee a successful rebuild either, look at all the perennial trash teams around the league. Trust Masai

This was a badly needed thread. Thank for starting this useful conversation over a year after the trade was made and we won a championship because, you know, lots of people would trade a championship for Demar.

Wait... are you asking if this team would be better today with Derozan on it.. at no trade cost. Because that’s pretty much a given.

yes he was the most loyal raptor and loved the city. bring back DD and Casey. Masai is an illuminati puppet that sold this teams heart and soul(casey and demar) for a ring.
