I remember so many of Casey's bone headed moves over the years with late or no adjustments in-game. I was quite happy Nurse took over.

Shouldn't be much of a surprise. The man has a large ego which led to no adjustments and just "pounding the rock" until we win or lose.

He also walked around with his Dallas championship ring like he was Dirk.

60+ year old man who hasn't learned to be humble.

he isnt takng credit for anything he wasn't given.

Masai & the organization have openly stated that last year's chip does not happen without Casey's groundwork

This is simply another trap thread to bring out the Casey Haters

There's a big difference between "I laid the groundwork" and "the team used my system with better players, I'd have won too."

The team said the former, Casey said the latter.

I actually didn't mind Casey unlike most here, but he's been unreasonably salty since getting fired.

Casey was a very good coach...he just wasn't a championship level coach, sounds harsher then it actually is, he can lead his teams to good records. IMO his adjustments in game, x's and o's, and plays out of timeouts were abysmal in the playoffs, and that is why we had to move on from him.

I literally copied and pasted what he said word for word and didn't have any personal opinion in the OP, how's this a trap thread?

Casey is good but not great. Masai wanted this team to be great, so he moved on.

Matty wrote:He is right though. It does vindicate his methods. We probably could have still won a title with Casey because it's not like Nurse was doing anything special unique to himself outside of being more open to different combinations. We brought 3 veteran players with championship/deep playoffs experience. That made a much bigger difference than the coaching change.

Yes I agree with you, but Casey still sounds very petty with the "See, I told you I was on the right track" approach.

It'd be better if Casey said something along the lines of "I'm glad I played a part in changing the culture", for example.

In the end, anyone can easily predict the outcome of any Casey Quote threads.

Boy does this thread reveal who pays attention and who doesn't. Casey and Nurse interchangable? Because Casey ("i am rock, i no change plan, pound rock") would have tried the box and 1 that helped bring us a title even though nobody could believe we were doing it? Because casey would have successfully game-planned the wall to stop Giannis? Because Casey would have load managed Kawhi like he did Lowry all those years? because Casey would have got us to come back from a 2-0 deficit like he did so many times before? lol.

Are "Casey Haters" even a thing anymore? Isin't that just the majority now? "Hater" is an obvious overreaction cause I mean i can respect some of the things Casey provided and accomplished but he had GLARING holes in his coaching and it was obvious he was never going to win the Raptors a championship.

So thanks Casey for your time here but do not take any credit for the Raptors championship.

Also, its so Casey to feel he's vindicated by the Raptors Championship. He's incapable of looking at his own flaws as a coach.

Would it kill him to publicly credit Nurse and/or Masai?

The Orlando series goes 7 games with Casey as coach.

The Philly series would eliminate the Raptors in six games at most.

Casey is a good guy and he helped coach us to some degree, but that's where it ends.

Nurse did not use the same system Casey had and I think that was another veiled shot at him.

Also, last year was an entity of itself.

Marc Gasol, Danny Green, Kawhi Leonard, Pascal Siakim and even a guy like Serge had NOTHING to do with Casey.

Did he help Kyle's development? Sure.

Did he help mould Fred? Maybe.

But our championship has nothing to do with Casey. And it especially doesn't have anything to do with Demar, aside from him being the asset that brought over Kawhi.

Yup. Agree 100%

Also the Bucks series would be unfathomable and we REALLY wouldn't of pulled off the box and 1 against GSW.

Casey just simply was an organizational development guy. He didn't have the acumen to be a championship coach. Nothing wrong with that, just don't take credit from Nurse.
