Thanks to all who made the live draft last night! It's an exciting beginning to our new dynasty league and we had a competitive but enjoyable time last night.

I know two teams did not show up which was unfortunate since these teams had to be auto-drafted. However, since this is dynasty there is still flexibility to mold your roster into something competitive for now or the future. I hope you two still plan to play. Otherwise we can look at replacement options for anyone interested.

I was just about to PM you. Well despite having an auto-drafted roster you still landed Kawhi, Lillard and John Collins. I hope you plan to keep playing. :D

Thanks again for organizing everything.. appreciate the efforts as always.

My device shat the bed as I tried to enter the draft room, causing me to miss my first two picks (could've been worse, ended up with KAT and PG). Got in just in time for my 3rd pick and then it froze up AGAIN and I somehow selected Mitchell f'n Robinson with my THIRD overall pick in a DYNASTY draft. Colangelo could've handled that better...

No problem. I enjoy it and always am open to suggestions or questions. Sorry your draft didn't go exactly how you planned, but glad to have you playing.

Hi everyone,

It's Opening Night for the 2019-2020 NBA season, so make sure to set your line-ups for our first two games:

7:00 PM (EST)
New Orleans Pelicans @ Toronto Raptors (-7) O/U 231
10:30 PM (EST)
Los Angeles Lakers (-3) @ LA Clippers O/U 224

Since a few of you have inquired about how the future draft process and trading picks will work, I wanted to fill everyone in on how it will work.

For our dynasty league, each team will be able to keep 12 total players from this season heading into the next. This leaves 3 roster spots open per team for our Rookie/Free Agent draft prior to next season.

Note: If you have a player with the "Injured" tag at the end of the season and wish to keep him, he will be included among the 12 players you get to keep. (i.e. just because you can still slide him into an IR spot and have 15 other roster spots available, does not mean you get to keep 12 guys AND him.)

The draft next year will be 3 rounds and managers will be able to draft from the 2020 rookie class along with any dropped players/free agents from the prior season.

Each team currently has a first, second, and third round pick in the 2020 Draft. These draft picks CAN be dealt starting now in trades.

The number one overall pick in the 2020 draft will be awarded to the Consolation Bracket champion. This promotes competitive play for teams who do not qualify for the Playoffs (Championship Bracket) and prevents blatant tanking if we awarded the pick to the team with the worst record.

The remaining draft order in the first round is determined by the final standings. The second and third round draft order is purely driven by the final standings (aka the first pick in these two round goes to the worst team).

Since our league is *new*, formatting and rules are being established on the way as we're a work in progress. Please let me know if you have any suggestions, questions, or concerns.

Thanks!
Chris

Another note ...

When attempting to trade or trade for draft picks, you will be prompted to select picks from Round 1 through Round 15.

Please Do Not select Round 1 through Round 12. These "rounds" go to the players you will keep from the prior season so in reality they aren't picks to be traded/traded for at all, but Yahoo won't let me remove them as options.

Only trade/trade for the following:

Round 13 (aka Round 1 of the draft)
Round 14 (aka Round 2 of the draft)
Round 15 (aka Round 3 of the draft)

Hope that comes across clearly, but let me know if anyone is still confused.

Also to be noted ...

Each team can not possess more than 3 picks in each draft. Because we have a hard keeper limit set at 12 players, if a team were to end up with 4 or more draft picks before the draft, they would be exceeding the max roster spot.

You might say, "Well what if we want to keep less than 12 players, say 11 players, and use my 4 draft picks to reach 15?" ... This causes a dilemma because when Yahoo rolls over last years' rosters to the new season, teams with less than 12 players have "open rounds" before Round 13 (aka Round 1 of the draft) that need to be filled and would throw off the entire draft order. So say Team A chose to keep only 10 players. That means in "Round 11", he would have an open slot that needs to be filled which falls before the first overall pick (Round 13, Pick 1). Why would that guy have a right to select next year's Zion Wiliamson or LeBron James before the true winner of the Pick 1 aka the Consolation Bracket champion?

In conclusion, this means in any trade involving a draft pick, both teams in the deal must be receiving a pick. These essentially are pick swaps since teams must maintain the 3 picks per year.

Example of trade that does not work:

Lakers receive: 76ers 1st Rd Pick
Sixers receive: LeBron James

This does not work because now the Lakers have 4 draft picks, on top of 12 kept players. This exceeds 15 roster spots.

Example of trade that does work:

Lakers receive: 76ers 1st Rd Pick
Sixers receive: LeBron James, Lakers 3rd Rd Pick

This may seem confusing, but it's a system I've seen work flawlessly in a dynasty football league I've played in for years now. It avoids a ton of confrontation and headaches for all parties involved. Please let me know if you need any further clarification because I understand it might be a lot to grasp experiencing this the first time.

Hi everyone.

Just a reminder that this week (Week 21) is the final week of the regular season. The Playoffs begin next Monday! Here is how the current standings are looking. Remember, if your team didn't make the Playoffs, your season is not over! As stated before the season, the winner of the Consolation Bracket is awarded the number one overall pick in the 2020 draft. Please see earlier post for details:

The number one overall pick in the 2020 draft will be awarded to the Consolation Bracket champion. This promotes competitive play for teams who do not qualify for the Playoffs (Championship Bracket) and prevents blatant tanking if we awarded the pick to the team with the worst record.

The remaining draft order in the first round is determined by the final standings. The second and third round draft order is purely driven by the final standings (aka the first pick in these two round goes to the worst team).

Championship Bracket Seeding
(1) Cincinnati Sixers | 108-61-2
(2) MotownPhilly | 106-64-1
(3) Dribble Hand Off | 101-68-2
(4) Pippen Ain't Easy | 97-71-3
(5) Floppers | 92-79-0
(6) The Baba Yaga | 87-82-2
Consolation Bracket Seeding
(1) Doncic4Senate | 80-84-7 (not yet eliminated from Championship bracket)
(2) Wizrd's of Westwood | 78-92-1
(3) Str8 Cash Homie | 71-96-4
(4) Go Back to Sea World | 69-101-1
(5) Cru Thik | 63-104-4
(6) AIR's Amazing Team | 57-107-7

Good luck managers! It will be an intense finish to the 2019-2020 season and then we have our first dynasty offseason beginning. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks.

Hi managers,

Obviously the suspension of the league leaves us all scratching our heads wondering how this will affect fantasy. Adam Silver said we will be without NBA basketball for a minimum of 30 days earlier this week. Yahoo Fantasy Sports has seemed to extend Week 21 into April. Obviously if the league decides to forgo the remaining regular season schedule and jump into postseason play, fantasy would severely be affected. I guess for now we must wait and see how this all plays out.

Hi Managers,

It is with regret that I must inform everyone that the 2019-2020 fantasy season is now cancelled. It was reported yesterday that the NBA's Board of Governors plan to approve the proposal of finishing the 2019-20 NBA season with 22 teams starting at the end of July. Obviously, this leaves out 8 teams' players, which would disrupt competition within our league.

I apologize to all of the teams that enjoyed success this season and were looking to compete in the 2020 Playoffs. These are unfortunate circumstances, but our league will not have a champion for its' 9th season.

Rumors are already swirling around that the 2020-2021 season will begin on Christmas Day this year with the Draft and Free Agency taking place sometime around October. Nothing is official yet, but we will get a better idea as time goes on.

I am sure many of you are curious regarding the draft order for next season. At the moment, I have no idea how we will award the first overall pick and determine the order, but I will come up with a fair solution. Keep in mind this is our first real "dynasty draft" where rookies (and free agents) are the only players to be selected.

Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions.

Thank you,
Chris
