Jaylen Brown Agrees To Four-Year, $115M Extension With Celtics

Jaylen Brown has agreed to a four-year, $115 million contract extension with the Boston Celtics.

The Celtics haven't agreed to a rookie scale extension since Rajon Rondo in 2009.

Averages out to almost 30 million per season...seems like a big overpay.

Danny ainge is 1 of the most overrated GMs in the league. 30 1sr round picks, no finals. 2 overpaid stars, 2 overpaid young bench player now.

Indeed. Siakam was already better than Brown, has been proven in the biggest stage and has a lot more upside.

Preach brotha. Been saying this for years. He’s a good GM for sure but everyone started saying he was head and shoulders above everyone else.

He is the Kyrie Irving of GMs.

If the cap keeps rising, the $30M-a-year deals are going to become commonplace.

I’m not saying I agree with it or that it’s money well spent, it’s just the nature of the beast now.

first instinct is to say too much, but look around at what players get. Kemba and Haywood +10m/year. over paying now a bit but in years 3 and 4 will probably be a bargain. based on my assessment of what I think he will do so many will disagree. i am pleased as long as they can also pay Tatum.

Bad deals are not to be used to see if he's overpaid or not. It's not because Hayward and Walker are really overpaid that it makes his deal a bargain. Just look at logical deal, like Hield and 86M/4yrs (even if he can get up to 5M more per year with bonus)
Tatum can be paid as long as they have money in the bank, they have his rights so they can pay like they want, but they will have in 2 years 36M for Walker, 30M for Brown... lucky they are that Harward will come off the book the same season Tatum extension kicks in.
