In that case, he'll probably be starting for us by December.

Think about Kenneth Faried - similar motor. Solid, not great rebounder - a little weak on the offensive end. Not a stretch shooter, but a great attitude. I think he'll make a nice role player.

We just need back ups at SF and PF. Cedi played 55% of his minutes at PF last year and that type of thing can really screw up a young guys development.

According to nba.com Power Rankings, Week 1 right before the start of the season, Nuggets starting 2019-20 as NBA 3rd best team, behind Bucks and Clippers, and ahead of all others (Sixers, Lakers, Rockets...).

That said, bookmakers still put our championships odds behind the 6 teams (LAC, LAL, MIL, PHI, HOU, GSW). Our depth is not that useful in the playoff like in the regular season, and teams with 2+ established all-star players are more attractive to bettors.

We are tied at #7 with Utah on around 17-21 odds.

The source and odds which I use are not originally from Vegas but coming from the ODDSCHECKER site which uses data from over 20 global bookmakers.

For a team with league 2nd worst record at halftime, and which obviously playing seriously so far this season only during 2nd half of our games, I must say Denver actually has fantastic overall record despite some unexpected loses.

Here is my short report about 2019 (current season only).

Denver is globally considered as #1 "Dark Horse" contender, and #6 overall. That is pretty fair estimation I think, despite our ceiling is clearly TOP5 when we talking about the regular-season record. If we talking about the playoff, I still think we need one more TOP50 level player. West is so stacked with two LA superteams and great Houston and Utah team, and already dangerous Dallas. I expected from Clippers to be on top of WC during the regular season, with Lakers don't care about seeding focusing only on the playoff, but it seems opposite right now. Houston has an MVP contender, another all-star, and Capella is a type of center that perfectly suits to them. Utah's starting lineup is fantastic but it is clear that after all these injuries Conley is far from his best years. Dallas has MVP contender, KP is not (yet) all-star level but his recovery improving. The bench is great and very deep, but they need one more notable starter to join Luka and KP. Golden State team is great, but they strategically decided to tank this season and be ready for next season with Klay is back and that stolen high pick from this season tank. Talking about lottery tankers, Pelicans can be really dangerous already since next season. Portland is a big disappointment so far, but no surprise if we meet once again in the playoff, this time in 1st round. We know how dangerous they can be, and Nurkic will be back till April.

On the East, Milwaukee dominating as expected, but there is also another superteam despite the currently bad record, Philadelphia. Boston chemistry and defense are back, Kemba is a good new leader, Tatum and Brown improved, Hayward finally contributes, so they are actually better team now despite losing this summer Irving, Horford, and Rozier. Oladipo comeback is a big mystery, but if he will be back this month as an all-star level, Pacers are a really good team with improving Brogdon and Sabonis into (near) all-star players. Toronto didn't die after Kawhi exit as many expected, mostly because Siakam raised into a true star, and Lowry is still an all-star player. I said GSW from the West will be great NEXT season, on the East such case we have with Brooklyn Nets. On west sensational surprise is Dallas, while on East it is Miami with great Butler season together with MIP improvement of Bam Adebayo (probably all-star already this season) and unexpected depth with rookies Nunn, Hero, and Robinson(soph.) coming from nowhere as starter level contributors. Talking about rebuild teams, only in Atlanta case I see a bright future, with Young, Collins, Hunter, and probably 2020 TOP3 pick.

Interesting more of the good teams have a lighter schedule.

Unfortunately, after easiest schedule in 2019 out of all top10 contenders, Nuggets have hardest schedule in 2020 (out of all top10 contenders).

It would have been nice, if we had taken advantage of the easier schedule to start the season. But having to fight through it in the second half is probably going to be good for the team. Of course I'm trusting that they'll win.

What's your biggest shock so far? I'm thinking the STANDINGS. But you can make it whatever you want. :eek2:

My biggest shocker in the East is Philadelphia. With or without Embiid, they are not playing well.

I'm a little surprised, but not shocked, at how well the Lakers have done.
I'm a little more surprised at where the Rockets are.
I'm even more surprised at where the Mavericks are.
I'm very, very surprised at where the Blazers are.
I am totally shocked at how well the Thunder are doing - major props to them!

It just seems like the West is a little crazy. :eek1:

POSITIVE: East - Miami/Toronto, West - Memphis/Oklahoma

Fascinating selections.

Seems LeBron went for bigs & especially ball handlers with only two East players.

Seems Giannis selected a more rounded team that is heavy on one-one-one players.

Wild trading season - here are some of my thoughts:

Denver came out of this okay. We traded players we might not have re-signed for players that we can keep for a while - all deep bench players. We may have even picked up a couple players that could contribute quite a bit this year and in the future.

Biggest Winner has to be Miami in my opinion: Iguodal, Crowder, & Hill - impressive.

Winner: Clippers for acquiring Morris and Isaiah Thomas might fit nicely for them too.

Winner: Minnesota for the Russell deal mostly, but also for acquiring Johnson and dumping Wiggins' salary.

Denver "small franchise" value is obviously pumped by this team's potential

Definitely show that the TEAM isn't as important as the MARKET.
