I didn't realize VanVleet was a free agent after this year. I wonder what kind of cash he's going to command in weak FA class.

I think there's a decent chance that we are also relatively disappointing this year (while still being a contender in the East), but I really think the NBA media has lost their minds with Philly. I think they've grossly underrated how much shot creation ability Philly lost this offseason. I think they're good enough to potentially get the #1 seed in the East, but I think they'll flame out in the postseason unless they majorly restructure this team. I just don't think their current makeup can win in the playoffs, especially if Embiid continues to settle for jumpers all year.

I disagree with you guys. The 76ers are going to be historically good on defense. I see 2004 Pistons from them.

Their defense is going to create a ton of transition opportunities for Simmons - who is weirdly one of the most underrated players in the league. I think Simmons is a top 15 guy by the end of this year. Getting rid of Butler is going to help him a lot.

Plus they still have assets to make a move. Zaire Smith, plus the Magic and their own pick.

I think they definitely have enough pieces still there to make some moves and become a legitimate title contender, but I really don't see it as currently constructed. I'm not convinced that they've improved upon last year's team at all honestly. Seems to me that any upgrades they've made defensively have likely been offset by downgrades offensively.

Furthering this point, apparently losing Brogdon is a death sentence for the Bucks despite adding three legit rotational pieces; but Philly replaces Jimmy Butler and JJ Redick with an aging Al Horford and Josh Richardson and they will for sure be better.

The natl media hasnt made one logical assessment of MKE/Philly that doesnt contradict itself. Normally idc but when guys i like (Simmons) start pushing the same garbage it gets to me.

If he continues on or about the current trajectory, probably max contract.

I can’t fathom why the Kings payed Barnes all that money after he clearly made the team worse last season, something many called happening right when the trade occured. Kings are terribly run

Probably a good bet with Oladipo out a while.

I went with unders on OKC, Knicks, Grizz. 0-3 last night, might as well start spending that money. Held off on a few others I liked trying to be a responsible gambler. Threw one on MKE to win it all, why not right.

I like all those, what odds did you get on the Bucks? The only other one I actually put in was Clips over 53.5 wins.

(We need to revive the betting thread)

I don't have it on me but +550-600. Somewhere in there.

After game 1 that Clips looks good, I was worried about resting Kawhi but still they should get there. I thought Denver over 53ish would be ok. Bulls under. Cha under. But held off on those.

Nice. I admittedly was thinking the over for Chicago, glad I stayed away.

The ultimate move would be to trade Ersan and Thanasis for FVV so the Raptors feel like Thansis helps them with signing Giannis.

Giving Trevor Ariza money this summer was an even worse move. He's washed and basically just cashes checks and loafs around the court at this point.

. Hell nahhhhhhhh.

*Stop trading Ersan, ffs. 2 flat out hustle players that boost locker room morale, for a guy who caught lightning in a bottle... No thank you.

I'm not doing Ersan for Fred straight up. ILYASOVA is going to hit his late season stride & be one of the best players we have come playoff time. Hits 3s, defends, plays smart, boards. Has a long history with players, coaches & the franchise. He should retire here.

Absolutely love Ersan. And agree with all your sentiments regarding his impact on the team and community.

But if Masai got drunk one night and offered up FVV for him, I'm sending the trade confirmation papers to the league quickly and not looking back. That would be a steal for us. FVV looks to be a fat man version of Andrew Toney. He's made the leap and he's fantastic.

How many wins gets you in the East playoffs? We going with the traditional Bad East 38 or something like a Historically Stank Ass 35?

The East is bad, but also, it's pretty level?

FVV is a good deal for one more season, not worth the max contract or whatever he will get that's close to it.

Yeah. I was just going through the teams and I see a bunch of average teams, so I think it's going to be closer to 38-41 as those teams beat up each other. I think most of the bad teams got slightly better and at least one of the top 3 teams got worse.

Thon just made a very good defensive play. Credit where credit is due.

Jabari’s second year removed from second acl. They always say it’s the second year after an acl that you get back to your potential. He could be real good for that hawks team on that contract
