Matisse Thybulle Defense

Post#1 » by youngcrev » Fri Nov 1, 2019 2:10 pm

From Lowe's latest article:

But he is already special on defense. I can't remember the last rookie wing to move with such liquid grace and speed. Maybe Kawhi? Thybulle is barely logging 20 minutes per game, and he leads the league in both steals and deflections

He's got a long way to go offensively (shot actually looks good, so we'll see if it starts falling), but man, this kid is impressive on defense. He reads passing lanes like nothing I've ever seen, yet has the recovery ability to get back in position when he misses (those blocks from behind must drive guys crazy). And it's not like he's just wreaking havoc off ball, as he's been tasked with guarding guys like Kemba and Trae from day 1.

I'm legitimately wondering if he's got a shot at making an all defensive team as a rookie bench player.

This rookie class in general has been impressive.

I've mentioned before that in 30 years he's the best defensive prospect I've ever seen. His issues on O are indeed an issue, but with a lineup of Simmons/Thybull/Richardson/Horford/Embiid, I believe you have the best defensive unit ever.

Overall I do think they will go down as a GOAT level D.

Naaa man. We can't waste his minutes on nonsense. Save the light work for Korkmaz...

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

What !!! you need to be a little more enthusiastic about your analysis of him. At this stage of the season. 4 games into his rookie season, his offensive issues have a lot of time to be worked out. But I hope he is/becomes a very special defensive prospect.

ESPN should mike him up when they play.

I want you to be right. But stop it man just stop it! It's too soon in the process.

But I do recall you singing his praises in pre-season. So I'd be happy to be wrong.

Can't believe Brand managed to salvage what Colangelo almost destroyed. Hinkie would be proud.

He's averaging 5 steals and 2.5 blocks per36 which is exactly what he did in preseason.

And just watching him, I've never seen any perimeter player so disruptive on defense.

Obviously you can't annoint him "the best ever" at anything after 5 games. But he I'd already be surprised if he doesn't end up in the conversation, barring injury.

Are people pronouncing his last name wrong? Or is this an anglicized version or is this a Brett Favre kind of thing?

Mentioned this is another thread: he's the best game-changing defensive player I'd seen at the college level since Anthony Davis.

Your reasoning might be sound if not for the fact that he has only played 4 professional games. Does that change your thought process

Props to this guy, with the current rules it’s hard for wings to make a difference on D, but he sure is.

He really is unique and pretty special. He actually can't stay in front of his man 1v1, but it really doesn't matter cause he specializes in reach arounds and blocks from behind. It really is something special to watch.
