I like how the Heat aren't scared to let their rookies/young players/G League pick ups have big roles on the team. Or they'll at least give them the chances to mess up before finding out if they're worth anything. We'd be wondering 2-3 years in how to integrate players because of egos and some perceived hierarchy that really doesn't exist when it comes to teams without superstars.

Yea, but all there young players are skilled. Nunn, Herro, Duncan & Bam. Nunn was the 2nd best NCAA scorer & best 3P shooter, Herro was compared to Booker, Duncan is a awesome shooter & Bam got a great handle & is a point center.
In our whole rebuild, we drafted one skilled player (Hezonja) and even he was not skilled in the end. He coudn't dribble & his shot looks great but never goes in. :noway:

Just check Charlotte, everybody thought they gonna be the worst team in the leaque, but they drafted a lot mid to late 1st rounders with athletic or height defecits, but all are skilled & now can play good offensive ball (Bacon, Monk, PJ., Graham).

I have the feeling the skilled players get it done over the last 2-3 drafts, no matter where they were drafted. Maybe our FO should take a look.

Their rookies are really, really, really good tho. And not that young.

Herro has "off" game and has 12 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists.
Nunn didn't play much due 4 fouls.
Duncan Robinson 23 points with 7 threes in 11 attemps.

His FG percentage is 79% now. He's never really played with another allstar calibre player and I think it's helping him.

Dwight was at his best with Hedo running plays for him. He now has Hedo on steroids and he is looking great. Truth is, since he left Orlando, the likes of Kobe, Harden, Kemba, etc ignored him.

Hedo was already on steorids

He is best used in pick&roll action, something that he did not like to play after Magic.

Nash flat out told media "He didn't seem like he really wanted to do a pick-and-roll offense, maybe because he had run one in Orlando for so long and he wanted to get in the post more,"

That's true he played with those players. It looks like he more excepting of his role now and not trying to be the star.

Who knows if we would have had the assets to trade up for Luka... but to think we ended up with Bamba from that draft infuriates me.

admittedly i was low on Young and guy proved me wrong, but what nobody saw comming is crazy upside of SGA.

He isn't really traditional PG, but lenght , athletics and nice insticts make him really good combo guard.

it's frustrating especially because Knicks landed similar player to Bamba in second round in Mitchell Robinson.

Yup. I was thinking that about Mitchell Robinson the other night when we played the Knicks. I would say Robinson has actually shown greater potential than Bamba. Sadly I think the Bamba pick might be a bust

Bam developed, he didnt come to Miami like that. He had terrible BBIQ coming out of college
Basketball IQ is lacking, as he doesn't always respond well to double teams ... Finds himself in the wrong place or misses a rotation far too much ... Has not developed much of a back to the basket game ... Does not have a go-to move on the low block ... Poor assist to turnover ratio (0.8 APG/ 1.7 TOPG) ... Is not strong with the ball

It makes you wonder what Luka will be in his prime. He is on a trajectory to be the best player on the planet.

Crazy part about him is that he is actually good defender.
Guy is 20 and given his sucess in Europe he could retire today and be in conversation for HOF

He’s unreal. It’s pretty awesome that we get to see this happen and hopefully for a long time.

The difference is their team culture. They don't allow tanking to infect their franchise...even when they didn't have talent and lost a lot they always played at hard intensity to win each game and made sure opponents paid a price to beat them.

Their young guys don't play if they don't play hard defense AND absolutely no fake gym "hard work" bs...their culture is about being at top physical conditioning to be able to play 2-way basketball. They pride themselves on real actual physical results that each player has to reach...none of this PR garbage talking to a camera about how hard everyone is working.

Just gifting tank minutes and bloated volume stats to generate "fools gold" hype isn't what they do.

Phx would prob be a top 6 seed in the East but won't make the playoffs in the West. Like what I'm seeing so far.

Their moves this summer are looking genius for a team that had been crapped on for the longest time as a tank team and shining example of why not to tank.

Rubio + Baynes for $21M, Saric for a 5 position trade down in the draft. Oubre looks to be living up to his contract, too.

And that's without Ayton.

Still early days, but I'm glad they're getting a taste of success and look to be trending upwards.
