The season just started

Sure they are 2 games behind where they were at last year this time. But Portland ended 5 games ahead of the 8th seed last season. So if they don't get it together soon they are looking at barely making the playoffs if at all.

It's early but I'm not seeing the chemistry with Whiteside. There's a lot going into getting him involved and it seems like it's costing more than its returning.

Wasn't able to watch the game, but what happened with the Free throw differential? Blazers committed 6 more fouls, but the Warriors shot 22 more FT. Lots of stupid fouls or what?

How can you hang all the blame on CJ? Total lack of, or just bad game planning by Stotts, and Dame lost his focus and fell into the trap. Pretty horrible all around. I know ya'll will say, but look at Dame's numbers were awesome, and they were. But to me, it reminded me of a rookie Jordan, putting up 55 points, and losing the game.

I don't think the seeding is going to matter this year. The west will have 8 great teams in the playoffs. Every match up will be tough and the winner needs to defeat 3 great opponents. There will be no easy lane.

Granted, the Blazers didnt do much to help themselves tonight outside of Lillard, but 14 free throws compared to 36 free throws? BS!!!

What I'm seeing is, he's waaaaaaay to far away from the basket to be effective, setting screens beyond the 3 point line, instead of getting steadily fed in the low post.

I'd have pulled Bazemore and Hood and gone with Hezonja and Simon's around the 5 minute mark.

There were only fouls when the Warriors had the ball. Lots of contact when the Blazers had the ball, but it wasnt a foul. The contact was similar on both ends, but fouls seemed to go one way.

CJ had some good stretches of playmaking. I think guys just weren't bringing enough effort defensively and then the refs started calling it one way which makes it harder to get back in it.

While Tolliver is decent at some things, I think it's safe to say Aminu was flat out better. Now that Collins is out, POR really needs more production from their starting pf.

You expected more out of them at this point? Tonight's game pisses me off, but I decided before the season started that they would lose a lot of games due to having so many new players in the rotation. I said I'd give em a month to figure it out and it looks like they'll need the entire month to do so. Collins injury didnt help. Basically, with Nurk and Collins injured and Aminu and Harkless gone, we have an entirely new front court. Right now, we essentially have Lillard and CJ and 3 months of Hood in the rotation from last year. Simon's wasnt in the rotation.

It's a little early to write them off for the rest of the season.

Or... the Warriors Shot 14 free throws in the last 3 minutes because you guys were fouling to try to catch up.

CJ doesn't get "all the blame".... Tolliver was a disaster. Bazemore and Hood sucked. Whiteside's defense is just not very good. He's significantly worse on defense than Collins and Nurkic, and to this point... he's worse than Skal on that end as well.

Here's the difference. Tolliver is a vet min type guy. Production out of him is icing. Whiteside had a bunch of question marks coming in... and while his defense is bad to this point, his offense and rebounding has been really good. Bazemore despite his issues still looks better than Turner out there. Hood has been mostly great to open the year, rough one tonight.

CJ though... that guy just got an extension for 30+ million a year. He's been actively hurting the Blazers to this point in 6 out of 7 games. It's one thing to miss shots. It's another to play kindergarten defense, and ball-hog. CJ has been plain awful. If CJ was out there being an actual second option instead of warm vomit on the court than the Blazers are probably 6-1 right now. But he's not, he's out there destroying the team by looking like late-career Carmelo with a prime Carmelo price-tag.

Before Collins was injured, I was thinking Blazers should bring Collins out to run the high post since the offense isn't running well with Whiteside from the high post.

I'd agree. But the thing that's scaring me is CJ. He looks as bad as he ever has in his tenure here. Like last season's playoff run has gone to his head or something. I can stomach losing because of the new frontcourt or the injuries. But I'm seeing a lot of close game's that I can trace directly back to Portland's supposed second option playing like a G-league chucker. I would be less worried about all of this if Portland didn't just hand this G-league chucker a 30+million a year contract extension.

CJ has had a really rough start to the year for sure. I'd expect some regression to the mean at some point, which will help Portland.

A foul is a foul. I dont care who you are or what team you play for. If the ref's are gonna call the contact on one end, they'd best be calling it o the other end. There were a number of plays down the stretch where the ref's swallowed their whistle. Rewatch the game if you disagree.
