Yikes.
Had to record the game to watch later...now I'm not so sure I will. Got smacked down by a bunch of Gleaguers?
These types of games are tough because they are impossible to gameplan. I expect the Blazers to play with more synergy on both ends for stretches of the season. Perhaps this is a low point. If it's going to happen, I'd rather it happened now than later in the season. Guys like Mario, Hood, Bazemore, and Tolliver are inconsistent, that's why they are bargain players (well, Baze
should be a bargain player). And Simons is a kid. Perhaps we are all (me included) expecting a little too much out of them.
But the reality is the team was hamstrung by Olshey's idiotic 2016 spending spree. A lot of these offseason moves feel like a "did the best we could, given the circumstances..."
Last year the Blazers lost their second best player for potentially most of this season...it was always going to be a struggle. What bothers me is that Lillard has broken down in the POs for years now, and he's going to have to go harder than ever in order to even make the POs. The truth is they should be finding ways to give him breaks other than All Star Weekend.
