If he doesnt have the guts to relentlessly try to drive to the basket to score what makes you say he will have the guts to shoot when the later is more foreign to him?

What he needs to develop is the mentality of a scorer, not a shooter. Because until then, he wont be able to decide whether to pass or shoot when he’s open. The indecisiveness will just lead to poor decisions and less accurate pass or shooting.

To score should be an instint like a predator in the wild. Right now he is just a prey. What i suggest is Ben to watch more national geographic and see how a lion hunts in the wild

The Ben Simmons Megathread - Part III

Post#1302 » by Sasashi » Wed Nov 6, 2019 4:45 am

Someone needs to get behind the bench of the sixers and just heckle crap out of him and let him know. Is that even still allowed in the NBA these days? . Dont curse or nothing just let him and the team know that he’s the weak link on offense and it needs to change or the heckling will continue. Heckle brett brown too to force him to shoot.

The crazy thing is in the last two offseasons he's worked on his shooting and said in his interviews that "He's gonna shoot and doesn't care if he misses as everyone misses"..then he comes back, nails a three pointer and then another jumper in the next game and that's it, everything has been shut down. Everyone crucified Fultz over his shooting and talked about him having "the yips" but at least the kid was brave enough to TAKE SHOTS. And furthermore Fultz's issues may well have been his shoulder in the end which kept him out for months. What's Ben's excuse? I honestly think his issue may be mental as well as his shooting mechanics tbh because this is ridiculous.

When Ben came along and did what he did his rookie year it gave me so much hope for the future...now I'm struggling to see how we get a championship with him on the team tbh.

If we get to 25-30 games and he's still not shooting then I'd be preparing for a trade If I'm EB. Zach Levine is someone I'd keep an eye on....Chicago, who are heading nowhere right now, would get a star name and we'd at least get a young guy who can score and defend a bit.

Will just add pressure and confusion. It should be self realization

I can't understand how a player who makes 5 straight threes in practice can't even try to shoot 1 freaking open three in a game. He even hit one in preseason.

This is just mental at this point and needs to stop. He's not a kid anymore, it's time to get better. Just make him shoot, if he can't trade him.

I won't see another Playoff run handicaped by the worst halfcourt player in the NBA.

This is why Brown is as much a problem as Ben is because he's letting Ben get away with it and has for too long now. I mean ffs doesn't Ben have any pride? He was taken off of the ball In the playoffs and yet he still hasn't changed?

That’s the problem with these millenials....pressure/confusion??? Come on man. Are you imitating Brett Brown???

We tried the patience method and hoping there is self realization from him. We can’t wait anymore...Now the fanbase needs to push the envelope and give EXTRA pressure and see if Simmons is a true diamond or a “gemstone” from 69th street pawn shop.

Imagine if Brett Brown actually benched Simmons next game. That would be absolutely hilarious but also the only chance of giving him the kick in the head he needs. All Star? Best player in the league?.... nah dude you are a bench guy with your lack of shooting.

I feel like he doesn't like doing things unless he's really good at them. So he's not gonna start shooting threes until he knows he's gonna make them. But he's not gonna get really good if he doesn't take the shots in the game. This is why Brett has to force him to start shooting.

I've been frustrated and embarrassed by Ben this season. He is actually worst than last season so far. I still reckon his first playing season was his best. He actually took a few mid range jumpers.

Unfortunately Ben has all the power. Brown is a lame duck coach right now. If Ben gets upset with coach Brown then Brown is gone for sure...well unless he wins a championship. And even that may not save him. Brown has to keep trying to get through to Ben, get a new contract then anything can happen.

But Ben is grown, he knows what is expected of him. Will he do it? That is the question.
You want it to be one way....but it's the other way. (Marlo)

Im just glad this board is finally waking up to brown and simmons. Saying they are problems doesnt make you a troll, it means you can be objective about your team and want whats best for the teams chances at a chip rather than whats best for a player

I'm not sure treating Ben like a child is going to make a difference, especially when it would hurt out chances of winning games

Calling Simmons the worst half court offensive player in basketball isn't being objective. It's hyperbole. Pretty much everyone on this board is aware of Ben's shortcomings. Those shortcomings seem to be all you focus on.

Are we actually sure Simmons isn't weaker mentally than Fultz?

What does it mean to be mentally weak?

Like if they play chess, who do you think will win?

I know what you mean, I think its Ben. Fultz will take that shot if he’s open. He’s also underrated as a playmaker, specially on PnR. He will be a special player once he regains his shooting. A LOT better than Tatum.

In that case, I would beat both of you in chess.

Ben has been known to use the Ponziani Opening but can never seal the deal.
