Nets -13.4 Points Per 100 Possessions With DeAndre Jordan, +12 With Jarrett Allen

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Nov 8, 2019 4:30 pm

The Brooklyn Nets have been vastly better when Jarrett Allen plays instead of DeAndre Jordan to begin the 19-20 season.

The Nets have been outscored by 13.4 points per 100 possessions with Jordan on the floor compared to plus-12 when Allen replaces him.

Jordan seemed to regress on defense last season with the Dallas Mavericks and New York Knicks. Jordan is only challenging 3.3 shots in the restricted area per game, according to Cleaning The Glass.

Brooklyn's decision to sign Jordan to a four-year, $40 million deal seemed more connected to his friendship with Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant than where his productivity on the floor is at this stage in his career.

A $40 million dollar retirement package for Jordan.

If anything, it was Kyrie and KD that got him that deal in BK, not the other way around- so in essence, not money well spent.

Maybe the Nets brass hope Jordan can keep Kyrie from taking one to many emotional vacations while also teaching KD some charisma.

Where else were they going if the Nets said no to Jordan? Or if the Nets at least said no to 4 years of Jordan?

Well, normally i would agree with you, but both of these guys are weirdos and dont have the same goals of other players. The BK front office was probably worried that having the wrong pencils in the office could cause them to chose another team.

That’s fair. Everything happens so quickly on the first day of free agency that if you’re about to land a couple of whales, you’re probably going to agree to anything at that point.

I believe Durant or Kyrie took less so that DeAndre could be signed.
