G-League gotta increase the bag to beat out an overseas deal for some of these higher up kids. But yeah that wave to play elsewhere for a year might continue to grow. LaMelo likely didn't have much choice but RJ Hampton was outta nowhere.

True, but the G-league does offer an in into NBA level strength and conditioning, schemes, and systems. Surely that and potential networking is worth a bit?

Also international guys are slowly starting to join the G-league train. With the Warriors big and Giannis's brother starting it.
Rest in peace Mamba. There'll never be another Kobe.

Once the one and done rule officially dies I expect the NBA to invest significant capital into the G league. Should be affordable after the last TV deal they signed

I think it can be for a kid that might be concerned with the level of exposure he'd get at the college level if say he can't find a suitable situation or a kid that just outright knows he won't be able to get in without some sort of red tape. But I'm not sure it attracts known commodities with no extras attached. So a kid like Zion with ridiculous fanfare and his choice of schools knocking his door down isn't going G-League and would likely find the overseas bag much more appealing if they wanted to forego the collegiate route.

Good. Let him sit out and preserve his body. He's a top 3 pick guaranteed.

Waiting until this late really hurts (if the ineligible ruling ends up standing). All the other leagues have already started (and started practicing a while ago).

Exactly. There is no reason for him to play in the G League or overseas. He looked great the first game. Sell high. He shouldn't appeal and should sit out and cash in. If anything this will help him - if he didn't look good this year he wouldn't get paid.

Edit... I see it was 2018... not that I care.

All this stuff is so dumb.

Funny how they never dig into the past of athletes from more well off backgrounds.

yeah i could see this happening too. But Wiseman has been on the radar for so long and the other bigs in this class likely won't pass him it wouldn't hurt him to sit for the season in his new Memphis home and just train for June.

Exactly - sign with an agent and work on his game.

2018 makes a lot more sense than 2008. Obviously its pretty problematic if a coach is allowed to help a player like that monetarily.

As far as the Gleague goes, nobody watches it and as a result they don't get paid well relative to other professional leagues, even after their pay increase. I can't imagine any top prospect going to play there.

Excited to see what happens when they get rid of the age requirement. Hope the NCAA gets **** like never before.

Why would any top prospect want to compete against grown men fighting and clawing getting to the league and risk getting exposed? Not to mention riding around in a bus everywhere to miserable cities.

It's why I never understood the G League appeal unless guys are paid like $500k a year but for $120K that's been proposed? Hard pass. Doesn't make sense
