Magic Express Interest In DeMar DeRozan

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu Nov 14, 2019 7:35 am

The Orlando Magic expressed interested in trading for DeMar DeRozan, league sources told Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer.

The Magic are "scouring the trade market for scoring help," added O'Connor.

DeRozan has a player option for next season, though The Athletic reported that DeRozan and the Spurs remain far apart on negotiating a contract extension.

Orlando has just terrible management.

It makes zero sense to trade for a player who is now on his decline and in his 30s when you're only just starting to get good.

If you're basically trying to ruin your franchise, then it's a perfect move.

You gave away Olapido and had to rebuild. Now you're going to do it again.

Depends on the price doesn’t it? I’d say matching salary and a protected pick.

Having said that, they’ve already got a non shooter in the backcourt in Fultz. I’d rather they persevered with him before adding another non shooter

The spurs hate DeRozan, pop is all about ball movement and shooting and fundamentally strong basketball and low turnovers. That’s just not DeMar.

They would trade him for any package that included a 1st and a played on a decent contract

It's probably a reference to three point shooting. DeRozan did show signs that he could extend his range to three point territory in his last season with the Raptors, taking 3.6 attempts per game and making 31%, but clearly that hasn't been his strength.
