He's been a terrible signing so far. There has to be a taker for him. Thoughts?

Official trade Julius Randle thread
I think we've seen enough. I literally close my eyes when he has the ball. The man is a turnover machine and tries to do way too much on the floor. Some of that is on Fiz but The Knicks need to get rid of him before his value gets even worse. He's better off coming off the bench for a decent to good team. Right now hes being used as the Knicks go to guy. I mean the guy is avg'n more TO's then assists while shooting under 43%. He's hoisting up 3 pointers and bricking like crazy, who does he think he is, Steph Curry? On top of that, he's a bad defender.
He's been a terrible signing so far. There has to be a taker for him. Thoughts?

Petition signed. Get this scrub out of here man.
I believe he can be an effective player in the league, but it ain't here. We don't really have an identity and are poorly coached, but I know he's not good enough for the team to build around him and compromise what they do and who they play in order for him to thrive. I can't watch this dude iso or think he's a point any longer.

If anyone thought Steve Mills had a clue even after he signed Tim Hardaway Jr to that deal they certainly don’t now

He put up big numbers on a bad team. And we paid him for it.
Every time that I see him on the court I think of the poster who first described him as having 'alligator arms'.

I admit, I had no idea he’d be this bad based on watching him in the past. No pro basketball player should be this turnover prone. He literally has NO handle, no sound footwork and no court awareness. From what we’ve seen so far, people are right to question whether he even belongs in the league.

Exactly and look at Tim Hardaway now.... he’s coming off the bench like he’s supposed to. While on the Knicks he was our go to guy. Absolutely ridiculous. Now Mills signs Randle who’s basically the big man version of Tim Hardaway. The NBA needs to do something with this team man. Force Dolan to sell or something.

Re: Official trade Julius Randle thread
Not worth to trade him now b/c we'd have to package a pick or two with him. He's looking like a bad contract.
Better off trading him next season. Yes he sucks, but I think his numbers will look better without Marcus Morris next season. And we can get away with just waiving him if necessary.

His handle is horrific man. And Fiz continues to allow him to handle the damn ball. Fizdale needs to go too just for that fact. I mean how much footage does someone need to see that Randle should not be handling the ball this much?

Man, I don't trust Mills and Perry to make any moves right now. These guys don't know ****. We could probably crowd-source decisions to this RGM forum and have a better result.

You’re probably right but the He’s just hard to watch right now. Fizdale needs to bench him until he can get his act together.

We are probably stuck with him for now.
Bring him off the bench, and utilize him better aka less (NOT AS A POINT FOWARD BRINGING THE BALL UP THE FLOOR!!). Randle will look better and Knicks will be better off.

Exactly! He’s strictly a pick and pop dude, and the only times he should be even bringing the ball up court is in fast break and trap situations.

Re: Official trade Julius Randle thread
I don't have any issues with Randle on offense, I have issues with the position we keep putting Randle in to be a creator. That's a coaching problem.
Randle has a good looking turnaround-fallaway post up move he seems to hit at a decent clip. He should be posting or shooting open 3s off Guard penetration, that is it. No more him trying to create from the 3 point line while guarded.
He would still turn it over but at a much more reasonable clip. Until he gets accustomed to being doubled all the time he should improve. I think the OP frustration is better suited in the Fire Fiz thread.
Who will send Coach Snakedale the memo? Let's hold a press conference.

This. And maybe if DSJr emerges he won't feel like he has to handle the ball so much. He's trying to do too much on a really bad team. Did he do the same stuff on the Pelicans? IDK but therein lies your answer. His TOs have gone from 2.8 last year to 4.1 this one.
The bright side is right now he's looking like the General Rommel of tank commanders.

Re: Official trade Julius Randle thread
Last night was the template for how Julius can be successful. He spent a lot more time at Center which allowed the floor to be more spaced and gave him more room to operate and be a menace on the glass. Cut down on the turnovers, limit the 3's to only 3-4 instead of 5 and you have a good version of Randle who can help us.

He is awful. Just so hard to watch. I dont' remember the last time I cringed so much for a player when the ball was in his hands. Maybe JR Smith? That thirsty clown.
Make the Knicks great again!

Re: Official trade Julius Randle thread
The harsh reality is he's not being moved anytime soon, due to it being a PR disaster. So if Fiz was smart - which we all know he's not - he'd focus on "fixing" him.
Randle is very predictable, turnover prone, and not good enough of a ballhandler to operate in space in isolation. So therefore, the focus should be to use him as a screener and get him the rock with movement off pick and roll action, with him rolling to the rim. He is much more effective when he is going downhill on defenders without their feet set.
Additionally, off the ball set some back screens for him, and have him cut backdoor.
Fiz needs to drill in his head that he will not be fed the rock when he is operating at a standstill at the top of the key, on the wing, or in the post. If he wants the ball, he has to be in motion.
That's what I would advise if I were the coach and I truly wanted to "fix" him and save my job in the process.

Re: Official trade Julius Randle thread
If he played under control and didn't force iso plays or drives from the 3 pt line, or think he's a PG on every play he could be decent. He just has Javale McGee type basketball IQ. Not sure you can fix that.
Make the Knicks great again!
