NFL Gave Colin Kaepernick Two Hours To Accept Workout Offer

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu Nov 14, 2019 8:16 pm

Before the NFL reached out to Colin Kaepernick about a potential workout, they notified a select group of reporters suggesting they should be available on the following Tuesday for a worthwhile news development.

When the day arrived, the NFL reached out to Kaepernick\'s representatives for the first time in more than a year, instructing them the league was willing to hold a private pro-style workout for him in Atlanta in four days. The NFL wouldn\'t answer why the offer was suddenly made, who came up with idea or who would attend.

Kaepernick also had two hours to accept the offer.

This sounds like they are trying to make him fail.

Two hours to answer, and four days' notice? If this was the summer after his senior college season, or something, sure - but after screwing around with him for three years to suddenly up and offer the olive branch only to make it clear you intend to pull it right back, when scouts and asst GMs are supposed to be swamped with tape, and it's a private workout so it's expected that the public doesn't actually see how well he does?

That's some nonsense. Either offer him a real opportunity or continue to sit silently, NFL.

Spoiler:
Everything is practice.

Colin' in 2016 his team was 2-10 with him active, but he only played in 11 games. In fact both wins were against the 4-12 Rams of that season, and he didn't even play in the first win against Rams. So his record in 2016 was 1-10.
18 Touchdowns total. 14 interceptions and fumbles total.

In 2015 he played 9 games with a 3-6 record. 7 touchdowns to 8 turnovers.
In 2014 he played 16 games for an 8-8 record. 20 touchdowns to 15 turnovers (10 int, 8 fumbles/5 lost)
In 2013 he played 16 games for a 12-4 record, 25 touchdowns to 14 turnovers
In 2012 he plaed 13 games for a 9-3-1 record, 15 touchdowns to 12 turnovers

Clear degredation of scoring output over time. Constant turnover threat. team records were dismall. Why wouldn't every team want all that?

Should ask Tim T. why he didn't file a claim for being blackballed and labeled a bad passer, or was it because he used his team's pulpit to preach religion? Guy won playoff games in the NFL. Not even sure how often Romo did that.

Dude historically is one of the safest passers of all time as it turns out according to advanced statistics. Dididn't have a single season with even average interception rates. Didn't have a single season of even advanced sack rates. 3 of his 5 season's he was an above average passer- including his last season in the league.

Not sure turnovers are what is really alarming about the guy, his pass yards per attempt sucked, and his completion percentage dropped over time. I wonder how much of it was scheme related though, as he played for some bad 49ers teams after Harbaugh left.

If he was really serious about playing again he would've still be training to some extent to keep himself to go because who knows if a QB gets injured and they actually gave him a call to tryout. The notice would've probably been much less than 4 days in a scenario like that.

The league should pay him a retainer of another 50-60 million to be on hold and at the ready. It's only fair right?
