Kevin Love 'Going To Do Right By Cleveland'

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Nov 26, 2019 5:31 pm

Kevin Love continues to insist he is happy with the Cleveland Cavaliers and won't force a trade.

"I'm just going to let the chips fall," Love said. "I know that this is a young team. I think I can help them. I'm going to do right by Cleveland, the organization. This is a league where teams want to rebuild, teams want to go young but certain teams are looking for a piece, a guy who's played in the Finals, a guy who has playoff experience. I don't know what's going to happen, but I think it definitely lessens the burden and the anxiety."

The Portland Trail Blazers, Dallas Mavericks, Denver Nuggets and Miami Heat are all teams that could conceivably use Love.

"I've been committed to Cleveland since Day 1," Love said. "I know it's been a little shaky at some points. It's been really great at some points. But now I've found some semblance of balance in my life, not only on the court but away from it."

Love is averaging 17.9 points and 11.8 rebounds this season.

It's funny that he says it every week.

"I don't want to ask for a trade."
"I will do whatever the team wants."
"I mean if they DO want to trade me, I am ok with that."
"I am not going to object if the team wants to trade me."
"When the team decides they want to trade me, I will be ok with that."
"I am not going to feel insulted if the team wants to trade me."

Looks to me he is just sending a message to the team that he would welcome a trade.

Yeah he's setting himself up to look like a good guy when traded, so he can say hey look Cleveland I wanted to stay, but the team had other plans. Good luck and I wish you all of the best.

Or he finds it most healthy for himself to keep a positive attitude. I mean, what's he supposed to say?

He’s just answering questions. Not like they’re asking him about the upcoming game and he replies with “yeah I don’t wanna be traded”.

Players can’t win these days lol. A guy asks for a trade and he’s a dbag, now Love says he’s fine with whatever the team decides and that’s wrong too lol.

The media is the one who keeps asking him the same questions regarding a trade since he's in an obvious rebuild situation.

It seems unlikely that a good trade partner/trade scenario won't materialize this season, but it depends on what Cleveland is going to ask for. I think he is a positive asset overall, but he does have 3 more years (after this season) left on his contract.

K Love has said and done all the right things. It's been a good ride, but it's time. Set him free, Cleveland. Set him free.

These are answers he is giving during interviews, he's not holding weekly press conferences to update everyone on his life goals.

"I just want to clarify some of the recent reports that I have asked for a trade and that I am talking about it all the time with the intention of encouraging the team to trade me. That is absolutely not correct. But I will not oppose Cavs trading me far away from here. I also want to deny that I refuse to be traded to a playoff team. I will absolutely accept playing for a contender if that is what the Cavs wish."

What would it take to get love to the Blazers...? And don't know nobody say Dame or CJ, cause that is just ridiculous. Would Simons have to go? Could they send Whiteside's expiring and some other filler plus a pick?

Yeah, I guess. I wish he had the same tude when he cried and bitched his way out of Sota. Then again, glad Wiggins is finally coming around, so there is that.

As a Cleveland fan, it's hard to say but I'm guessing they'd go for Whiteside and picks by the deadline if something better doesn't materialize first. The Cavs will certainly be pushing for CJ if they tried for a trade right now, with CJ being from Canton and still appears to have plenty of Ohio roots that it'd be foolish not to pursue him. But I fully expect Love to get traded this year, and I keep thinking he'll end up with the Blazers as he's definitely the most complimentary piece for them.

Yup....I can understand if you're a Wolves fan and it still rankles.
And gotta admit, didn't see Wiggins growth at all, so that's a nice surprise.
