I would be shocked if Horst dealt any major pieces now, but I concur that a move for Jrue would make us better now and improve our cap sheet moving forward. Posted a trade idea a while back, but using the Magic in a 3-way for Jrue makes lot of sense to me.
MKE: Jrue, Redick
ORL: Midds, Korver
NOP: Gordon, Bamba, Ross, IND 1st
We get another elite 2-way player that can guard 3 positions, replace Korver with a better version for his role in Redick.
Orlando adds desperately needed "star" power and shooting.
New Orleans cashes in on win-now pieces for a solid asset haul.
Bled / Hill
Jrue / DDV / Pat
Wes / Redick / Brown
Giannis / Ilyasova / Wilson
Brook / Robin / Bender
We sacrifice length, but that team would terrorize on defense while being able to replace Khris's production on offense.
ETA: I'm obviously cool standing pat too, as chemistry seems to be at an all-time high right now.

All the other contenders are going to have to add pieces because their benches don't match up to ours. We're in such a good spot.
I think that we would definitely have to get one of those "can't believe we got offered this" deals. DDV has moved into untradeable territory for me. Ersan and Sterling are certainly easier for me to deal with moving mentally. Wes has been fantastic defensively.
For sure, we need a much better idea of Donte's ceiling before even considering moving him. I wouldn't say untouchable if someone were to offer us a legit star but... yeah. Let's keep him.

I have nothing against and nor do I know much. But he's another PF type where we have so many already. You'd have to trade Ersan for him. But Bertans is a FA and I'd assume gone in the offseason whereas as Ersan we'd still have for one more and cheap, plus he'd still be an expiring contract next year for a trade. My question is, does Bertans do OK on the hustle/rebounding/D tough guy stuff like Ersan does? Or is he stereotype of a Euro stretch big. I was pleasantly surprised by how much Mirotic tried on this stuff vs the reputation I had of him before we got him.
Second question would be is the potential upgrade from Ersan really worth other assets, like is it thaaat much of an upgrade. I'm sure he's a quicker better shooter and all that but I think you know what I'm getting at.
Bertans is a 3 and No-D. PF. If he's not shooting a high volume of 3's, he shouldn't be on the floor.
Bertans plays plenty of SF, and I like him, but I can't get past his embarrassingly bad playoff performance last year. We can't have another guy who wilts in the playoffs while we still have Bledsoe.
the plays more C than SF throughout his career. Regardless of where he plays, he's 3 and No-D.
playoff performance is small sample performance.

Fit gentlemen, don't forget fit.
If we get a guy right now who wants to hold the ball for even 3-4 seconds at a time, we literally might have to reinvent the whole system from scratch. Bud said it took him and Middleton 20-30 games last year to understand each other and finetune everything to fit Middleton's game in.
A quality 3&D guy might be better than a borderline All Star right now for us. Leave radical moves for the summer.

They already decided against going into the luxury tax for a non-superstar last off-season, so I can't see them deciding to suddenly do so this off-season when they will be in the tax permanently when Giannis' super max kicks in the year after next.
It was more a matter of WHEN the luxury tax kicked in and the subsequent repeater. We pushed back the timeline. That could make a difference. They're different situations.

Does Portland have a 2nd rounder this year or not? Realgm says no, ESPN says yes.

2020 second round draft pick to Brooklyn
Portland's 2020 2nd round pick to Brooklyn (via Orlando to Cleveland to Atlanta) protected for selections 31-55 (if this pick falls within its protected range and is therefore not conveyed, then Portland's obligation to Brooklyn will be extinguished) [Orlando-Portland, 7/14/2015; Cleveland-Orlando, 1/12/2016; Atlanta-Cleveland, 10/14/2017; Atlanta-Brooklyn, 7/13/2018]
https://basketball.realgm.com/nba/draft/future_drafts/detailed
So yes they do.

The only type of trade I would consider right now is something like RLopez and DJ for a 4/5 who is worth that (at least decent D and at least decent 3P%). Who that would be, I have no idea.

Yeah I've had a look in the past and I don't think that guy exists. Our best shot imo is to hope for DJ to develope into that guy.

Davis Bertans but he'd probably take more than RLo/DJ. Want him for that sweet, sweet shooting.

He's not a 4/5 and a big negative on defense. Not at all what OP was looking for.

I'm aware. And you said it already that type of player doesn't exist which I agree with so trying to figure one out is pointless. This is outside his wishlist but Bertans would be huge on the Bucks. Would be able to hide some of his defensive inefficiencies with our squad and would be a huge positive on offense.

I’m fine not making any moves. Chemistry is too good, and the only bad player on the team never plays unless the Bucks are up by 30

That's where I am at. Unless something they can't pass up becomes available like Beal or Dame or something.
It's crazy that outside of Giannis' bro, everyone on the team is either a legit positive rotational player or has the potential to be one (DJ, Bender, and the third PG). None of that guy who shouldn't be on an NBA roster being the first guy off the bench (Liggins).

Robin Lopez plays, and he's terrible. He was somehow -15 in our udder beat down of the Clippers. The team has been much better when they use 2 PFs.

Meyers Leonard has improved immensely to become a worthwhile defender, and he's a ridiculous shooter. Over 50% on 3s this year, and more importantly, he's a career 48% 3 point shooter in the playoffs. That would be a welcome addition after last year.
Hard worker, smart, can pass, and a good teammate. Only problem is getting his contract to fit, but that's a real problem.

Good shout. Haven't followed him in a while but to me it's suspect that he shoots basicly a career low in 3PA with by far his highest %.
