Kevin Love Prefers Trade To Blazers, Blazers Expected To Pursue Danilo Gallinari

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Wed Dec 11, 2019 4:52 am

Kevin Love would prefer getting traded to the Portland Trail Blazers, league sources told Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer.

O'Connor also mentions the Nuggets and the Suns as potential teams that could trade for Love.

A potential deal for Love could also include Tristan Thompson, who is available in a deal.

The Blazers are expected to pursue Danilo Gallinari to fill their power forward position.

So are the Blazers going after both Love and Gallo? I love the idea, but they can get both?

Either of them could thrive in the PDX environment, but it begs the question: WHAT HAPPENS TO STAYMELLO's minutes??

Of course they would prefer Gallo. Better shooter on an expiring contract, cheaper too.

I think a lot of teams are going to want Galanari. If PDX wants him, they’re going to have to get in line.

There's no way to make it work unless it's a 3 team trade with CJ involved. They'd have 110 mill commited to 3 players in the last years of his contract, the amount of lux tax PDX have to pay to keep a competitive roster would be insane.

Thought Portland was missing the defense they had when they were successful.

if he hasnt requested a trade which he hasnt...why would you report this like its something worth noting? portland hasnt had any clear and present interest in him for some time and just because the man said playing at home might be fun once or twice over his career doesnt equate to real news regarding current events.
fyi if traded his wish is to a contender and Portland wouldnt be after and sure as hell are not one now.

As if Love can choose where he goes. He signed that big extension knowing very well that the Cavs were going into rebuild mode. For someone of his calibre, you have to sacrifice the money in order to be on a winning squad.

But Gallinari for Bazemore works, add a pick and you're good to go ;-)
They can trade Whiteside for other players, even for Love straight up if they get the strange idea to play big big big

And FYI, Nurkic is injured so they are missing one of their most important player, so it's not a surprise that they're not contender at this moment, but that they can be one once he comes back, if he's fully healthy. And he may prefer to be traded to a team that turns into a contender with him, than a team already a contender without him...

The article I read said they wanted Gallinari woul play WITH Melo.

The Italian sniper would likely slide into the starting lineup alongside Melo, with the two players manning the forward spots in the wake of Rodney Hood’s torn ACL. Portland could also choose to bring one of the two vets off the bench for some scoring punch.

If you want a real upgrade...Marc Gasol for Hassan Whiteside and a first round pick or one of the young guys (Zach Collins or Anfernee Simons) is a great win-win move.

Lillard
McCollum
Anthony
Love or Gallinari
Gasol

Would be a very good playoff team.

Doesn't make any sense, they don't have a small forward or anything resembling a wing defender then. They are priced into keeping Bazemore with Hood gone forever. They could dump Whitesides turd expiring but not without knowing if and when Nurkic is coming back, or even if Collins was healthy.

Love is originally from the Portland area, so no surprise he'd want to go back there.

And CJ is from the Akron/Canton area near Cleveland sooooo seems like a perfectly sensible swap.

Love + Clarkson for CJ + 1st OR Love + Tristan + Clarkson for CJ + Collins + 1st

This is why I don't believe a straight up trade with Cleveland works. I think a 3rd team has to be involved. That being said if they did that I think Melo would come off the bench.

Never going to happen when they can trade Whiteside or Bazemore for the same deal. CJ and Dame will be Blazers for life, if either were traded the fans would burn the Rose Garden to the ground. Unless we get Luka then we’d be cool with it.

One thing that’s never mentioned is Kevin Love’s reputation in his “home town”. For one he grew up and went to school in the most wealthy city in the state and the furthest suburb from Portland where he was sheltered and gifted everything he could need. The only time he came to the city was to play basketball, I bet you a million bucks he wouldn’t know how to cross a bridge into downtown without someone doing it for him.

When Kevin was going to decide on a college to go to he shunned the in state schools and mocked their fans (his fellow Oregonians) as he flipped us all off on his way to UCLA. Love has also made 100s of millions in his career and has never brought a dime of that back to his home down, the players on the team now who are not from here have down more in a few months for the city then Kevin Love has his whole life.

Love is not from Portland, it won’t be a home coming for him and Blazers fans who have watched him since he was a kid know he’s never gave a damn about this city and he will be just another player on the team if they trade for him.
