Steve Novak is honorable mention on the Knicks' all-decade team.

Ha! Suck on that decade, Knicks fans!

A midseason tournament doesn’t sound like fun to me. I suppose it might be fun for the star players who would be cheering on their scrub teammates and G-league call ups

If you're going to bother doing an in-season tournament, make it an international thing.

drew881 wrote:I've mentioned this in other threads. This is the system: have an NIT-like tourney for all the non-playoff teams and have it decide the draft order. Winner takes first seed, finalist gets second seed, etc. You could even have it in regionalized cities (or even non-NBA cities like Las Vegas, Seattle, St. Louis, London, etc.) with multiple teams hanging out at one time in the city.

- This system satisfies the NBA because it adds extra games and extra revenue.
- It makes the product better because it diminishes tanking, and doesn't reward crap franchises with lotto picks.
- The players would have to buy in, but there is extra revenue, perhaps extra salary, and I think the player would want to play for a chance at a top guy like Zion. In a tournament format of the non-playoff teams, even a mediocre team could win 4 in a row.
- This grows the product beyond existing markets, much like the preseason.

Minuses:
-Gets rid of the draft lottery show
-Would people watch? I'd watch the finals, but not sure I'd watch the other rounds, unless my team was in it.

I like the creativity but I think a major issue with your system is it would make it more difficult for terrible teams to improve. It would also be smart for every team who isn't a serious title contender to intentionally miss the playoffs so that they have a chance at the #1 draft pick.

The system I think would work well is once a team is officially eliminated from the playoffs, keep track of their wins. The team with the most wins after they were eliminated from the playoffs drafts 1st, second most drafts 2nd, etc. This system means the worst teams in the league would have the longest period to accumulate wins and they have to actively try to win for the entire season. I think this system would basically eliminate tanking altogether.

There needs to be more talk about them as a legitimate threat to win the west. They're a match up nightmare for the Lakers too.

Yeesh...

If all of them were in their primes and on the team at the same time, that'd actually be a very good team. Knowing that it is an all decade team and those dudes were likely not all in their primes while there makes it pretty sad.

And here I thought the Bucks had a sad list of PG's before Bledsoe arrived. One season of Jeremy Lin, Prigioni, and fat Raymond Felton. Yikes....

The Mavericks are looking great against the Raptors.

Siakam is out and the Raptors seem that they will struggle.

Yea, so the Mavs might be closer to tier 1 than we originally thought.

Maybe Nurse shouldn't have been playing Siakam ~37 MPG. That's one thing I've noticed since the beginning of the year, FVV, Siakam, and Lowry were playing a ton of minutes and have all had injuries now.

Raptors are a thin mid tier team missing 2 of their three rotation bigs. Bound to get thumped every now and then when they aren't healthy. Having said that, the Mavs look like they'll be a problem for a long time.

Eh, Mavs currently remind of the Celtics a few years ago. Really cohesive team with a great **** coach, but will get walloped by any team with a superstar in the playoffs. Luka obviously changes that dynamic, but if he misses any time or if Porzingis doesn't return to being a star player, they pretty much have a 2nd round ceiling.

The Mavs are 9-28 in the 4th Quarter against the Raptors for now. What a collapse.

Showing you have 2nd round potential without your best player is really really good though, pretty much the best you can expect from a supporting cast.
