People forget, he literally took LeBron in 1v1 and won the matchup in this game.
The thing about JJ is that he has a lot of Hassan to him. When he’s engaged offensively and playing point forward he gives a ton of effort on defense. When he isn’t getting touches though he just floats around. When that happens what you’re left with is a small PF who can’t shoot or rebound and isn’t really making much of a defensive impact. Basically a non shooting version of Kelly.
Thing is though, just like Hassan, he does not put in the work needed to deserve the touches. After his one good year, he regressed. Even in the first year of the new contract when he was still a primary rotation player out of necessity, the dude was making a lot of mistakes. I can understand injury slowing a player down, but mental lapses are inexcusable.
