In unrelated news, Ex and I have had moments in the past, but I’ll be damned if this board didn’t have him here. From a medical and comedic standpoint, he’s killing this thread on both angles.

If I was not 6 feet tall, had not fathered 2 awesome millennial females, & could not still freakishly throw a football 40-45 yards in spite of my years, I would constantly be mistaken for Mother Theresa.

Sounds like good news to me that he's not hurting. Glad they're still giving him the extra time to heal.

Chronic neuropathic pain consequent to permanent nerve damage consequent to a massive fracture-dislocation requiring ORIF.

Would it be worth it someone like Gordon to be put on a low dose of Gabapentin? I have permanent nerve damage/neuropathy in my feet after recovering from Guillain-Barre (full body and lungs). I was on a relatively low dose of gabapentin but decided to get off of it (weened off of it after discussing with my doctors) due to only minor neuropathy in my feet. When I got off the medication, the neuropathy in my feet at least doubled in severity in terms of sensation and frequency of those electrical shock types of nerve pain. The nerves healed a little bit more on their own without medication, but I still deal with some neuropathy.

My point is that a low dose of gabapentin seems to help the neuropathy i was having in my feet after recovering from nerve damage on both the outside and inside of my nerves according to the EMG. I wonder if gabapentin could help Gordon with any residual neuropathy he may have from his injury?

And this is pretty much the foundation of the trade Hayward argument comes from.

We have a young core of Brown and Tatum who are 23 years or younger.

Hayward... his body obviously isn't here to last for the long term and he'll be 30 by the end of the season.

If, in a historically light trade market, we can use Hayward to get a kings ransom that can be assets to support our young core of Brown and Tatum (and potentially Walker depending on the speed of the Jays development). Then we should do it.

By no means do we have to trade Hayward, but we're really playing with fire here where we coudl go from an all-star level (and our best) player in the rotation to absolutely nothing quickly.

Yep, Fire and Ice are ready to takeover. They play much better together without Hayward. I haven't looked at the stats to back that up but my eye test confirms it.

Very interesting thought indeed.
There are different types of peripheral neuropathy & many different etiologies.
Gabapentin may be helpful in patients with diabetic sensory neuropathy & patients with post-herpetic neuralgia.
Limited if any data (as far as I know) in patients with other types of neuropathy.
I suggest that you ask the neurologist caring for you.
He/she will know much more than I do about the hypothetical value of Gabapentin in patients like GH with neuropathic symptoms S/P ORIF for massive lower leg trauma.
