I can't tell if there is sarcasm in this thread or not...

Shayok is taking 20 shots per game to average 24 points per game. In what world is that considered efficient shooting or scoring?? He only gets to the FT line 3 times per game.

How is that the type of player this Sixers squad needs??

It's not sarcasm. It's misguided desperation amongst a highly agitated fan base.

58.4% true shooting is incredible scoring efficiency for the volume he's working with.

LOL now 58% TS is bad because muh FT rate.
Embiid already has very high FT rate, it's not like it's something we desperately need or don't have, what we don't have is a shot creator, obviously if he could get to the FT line at an elite rate it would be amazing, but then he wouldn't be an underdog playing in G-league.

What if I told you everything you thought you knew about Marial Shayok was a lie ?

( a little poetic license from the matrix).

I mean, if there was any time it was during Matisse's injury. After he returns they definitely won't find any space to give Super Marial a shot.

If they have to sit out Embiid for a couple weeks for the finger, they're going to need added scoring punch. Hopefully Shayok gets the call up during that theoretical stretch.

Where is the callup?

He had 25 points on 17 shots on january 7th. Those are pretty solid numbers. I'd take that, if that were the norm.

But 14 points the very next game on 18 shots, not so good.

Granted his efficiency has gone up since my last post, where he was scoring 24 ppg on 20 shot attempts, which is actually pretty bad.

He's now scoring 22 ppg on 18.5 shots per game.

Still pretty bad, but getting better.

By comparison, Ben Simmons currently average 16.3 ppg on 11.4 shots per game.

Joel Embiid on his career averages 24 ppg on 17 shots per game. He is even not taking as many shots as Shayok, but scores more and is the focal point of the offense.

Tobias Harris this year, 19.5 ppg on 16 shots per game.

Josh Richardson, 15 ppg on 12.6 shots per game.

Al Horford 14 ppg on 11.3 shots per game.

Where do you think Shayok is going to find the amount of shots he needs during his time on the floor to effectively be a productive scorer??

He is a gunner who can score volume, on volume shots.

I don't imagine playing against actual NBA players would help his efficiency

He's a tick under 58% true shooting. Who says his efficiency needs help?

His per minute scoring is off the charts. Give him a 20 minute role and he'd be damn near guaranteed to give you 8-12 ppg off the bench.

His per minute shot attempts are also off the charts, so it's kinda hard to say what he'd do. It's not like he'd have that type of green light as a 2 way call up. He's taking the 2nd most attempts in the g league this year, and the only guy ahead of him is playing 8.3 more minutes per game than him.

Brett has been rewarded by giving Korkmaz a green light and letting him freelance outside the scheme and occasionally go crazy. I would hope that would dictate how he'd let Shayok operate if we did call him up.

Based on Shayoks current (improved lately) points per shot, he would need to take 10 shots to get 12 points. Korkmaz is only getting 7.5 shots per game. You really think Shayok would be able to hoist up 10 attempts in an NBA game in this lineup?

Well. Actually based on his crazy shot per minute of 1 shot per .66 minutes, I would guess he could get 10 shots off in just about 7 minutes, but also probably get benched for jacking up so many shots so quickly.

We should give this guy a chance to be our microwave off the bench. We have defenders out the @ss all over the roster. Just need someone to get buckets, so maybe he's the guy. It's not like Ennis or Scott give us anything special.

The current should-be microwave (Trey Burke) has been plastered to the pine for the majority of the season. I don't see how things would change with Shayok considering he's the same type of player, only taller. Not that I wouldn't like to see him get a shot. It's just that Brett Brown is the coach. I'm not.
