Grizz shoot the ball very well. I'm impressed at the difference between this year and last for them.

That being said, before people freak out, their schedule down the stretch this year is brutal.

FWIW, most metrics still have the Grizzlies finishing 8th or 9th worst due to their brutal schedule down the stretch.

Both Teamrankings.com and 538 have them at 33 wins right now.

Numberfire.com 34.

It looks for sure 6 teams will have worst record than Memphis

Gsw
Ny
Cle
Det
Was
Atl
......
All other teams could improve:

Por,
Sas,
Min(if healthy)
Sac (if healthy)

Should have a better record, that makes pick 11th.

So main competition in 7th to 11th range are:

Chi - probably will be worst, but play in East with more crappy teams.
Cha - same story as CHi
Pho - hard to predict, but based on last year's will be worst
NOp - when healthy and with Zion back could be better

So I expect pick to be in 7th to 11th range.

It is a dark time for the rebellion.

Jeff Green must be rolling over in his benzos.

In retrospect it really goes to show how impressively Brooklyn came through for us.

That's what I've taken from Sacramento and Memphis as well. It's hard to be genuinely bottom-of-the-league when you're not trying to be. Some basic pride and collectiveness is all it takes to overachieve in a league where a third of the teams are not trying to win. Absolutely amazing what BRK did for us in hindsight.

At some point, perhaps we start thinking about trading MEM their pick back? They can have a direct say in that asset's value by selling some vets and dropping out of the playoffs. I.e. it's worth more to them than us. Anyone interested in Valančiūnas? I'm notoriously terrible at constructing fair-value trades, but there's got to be a mutually beneficial play.

Ja Morant is a stud. All you can do is throw your hands up at this point

I mean the first round pick was for Jeff Green. Any first round pick for Jeff Green is a major win.

Yep. Just like Sac last year.... we can’t catch a break.

Surely they don’t finish in the 8 though?!

8-10 would be fine and dandy

Ja Morant is a **** joke. He doesn't play like a rookie AT ALL. Jaren Jackson is not so bad either.

Gonna cheer for Blazers (they suck though) and Spurs (meh) from here on out. That Grizz pick looks like late lottery at best.

And again.

Worst part is next year they could implode like SAC this year.

Good news is they have a lot of road games coming up; hopefully they start losing then.

Beating Houston is a major win for them.

Morant is so good for them, and they play similarly to SAC last year; up and down. In the dog days of the year, no one wants to play that style. They, like the Kings, dominate the dog days, I guess.

Morant is a beast. Kings last year made no sense :( They are 15-25 right now.

Wow, MEM looks great. Us trading what could have been Clarke for Grant & Edwards hurts by not having him and helping kill that pick, too. I’m sure there is some rookie wall losses in their future and things will even out a bit, but, man, that was an impressive win tonight. The intensity and pace was great. Ja is insane.

Thing is Brooklyn had no talent at all at the beginning. Memphis and Sacto did. When Brooklyn got a little bit more talent they handed Cleveland Colin Sexton with the 8th pick.

NBA needs to find a new way to do this draft stuff. Give equal odds all out to everyone except maybe the top 4 teams. Too many people get comfortable and rely on luck + incompetence to try and get over the top.
WHAT THEY GON’ SAY NOW? ‎ THANK YOU TRUTH!
