Knicks Leaning Toward Retaining Marcus Morris Through Deadline

Post#1 » by RoxSteady » Tue Jan 14, 2020 4:09 pm

Good idea. He's obviously going to keep hitting 47% of his three-pointers and Atlanta may start gaining on them for 14th place.

He'd be a good fit on the Spurs.

Just means they don't like the offers right now. He'll be traded. I mean Knicks have the cap space to just sign him as a FO if they REALLY wanted to have him long term.

His skill set and contract make him only viable to select teams, most notably the Clippers. But since you won’t have any bird rights if you trade for him why would you want to give up a FRP

The Knicks, and I can only blame Steve Mills since he has been there the longest, have no idea on asset management : when to sell high, when to buy low.

Ugh this is so stupid why would the Kni...oh, Marc Berman wrote this? That probably means it's a guarantee he's dealt.

Not true.
You would acquire non-bird rights which would allow you to start his contract at 120% of his previous salary - $18mil.
For an over the cap, playoff contending team, there is a high likelihood of resigning him.

The Knicks FO plays chess, other FOs only manage basketball teams.
It's time for 5 refs.

Imagine. The Spurs are desperately in need of an effective stretch 4 who can shoot and make his own shot.

Unfortunately the Spurs never go for hot headed guys like him. They prefer not to deal with the stress that come with someone like him because you'll have no idea what someone like him would do next.

There is the rumor that the Clips are willing to trade their FRP for Mook. The Clippers currently have the #23 pick (I think), which would be a considerable asset.

Another possibility is that they leaked the story to try to enhance offers.

Clips would be favorites imo if they get MM.

I think the most likely scenario is this is true, and their FO is going to piddle away yet another asset. Knicks fans deserve better.

The Pistons would gladly have Marcus instead of Markieff.
