I've been kinda ignoring ROY polls because you know who has it locked up. Moreover, I voted, but can't add stuff like where's Sekou Doumbouya (who?) or did you see Culver/Herro/Barrett move up?

Suddenly. Not after last night. I'm surprised no one is saying let's just give the trophy to you-know-who now. So, I'll say it. I haven't seen a rookie debut like that ever.

The only thing I can see derail it is:

Seriously, Zion's still got a way to go but he's in the discussion or will be soon. Ja might've had it locked up, but don't look behind you, Ja. Ja's still the one to beat, but wouldn't say it's a lock.

A lot of disrespect being shown to Ja. He's having one of the better rookie campaigns in NBA history and he's got a mediocre Memphis team in the playoff race.

Ja should win rookie of the year, but I just came here to say that Zion is a GOAT caliber prospect.

Just for argument's sake if things go well for him, I think he can top even LeBron and MJ in terms of pure physical plus skill domination of the league. I see him being able to absorb that Harden type shifty shooting game and adding the physicality of a peak LeBron.

Not saying it will happen. But just saying, he's got GOAT level talent in my opinion.
Rest in peace Kobe & Gianna

how does that perfect storm flesh out in your opinion to where all is justified? Zion would have to go as insane as we expect him to. Ja either has to get hurt or hit the rookie wall in unprecedented ways and Nawlins makes what PO seed off the back on Mount Zion?

Like what would be the minimum for Zion to earn ROY outside of narrative?

he's gonna average something like 20/5/5 on absurd efficiency the rest of the way, and I think he'll get the Pels in the POs over Ja

foolin yourselves if you think zion will win this. Nwo still has 3 b2b's left, he won't play in any of those games. This means Zion will play in a maximum of 35 games, assuming he plays in every single non b2b game. The pels are also 4.5 gms out of the 8th spot..that loss yesterday was one of the final nails in the coffin.

Ja is your ROY.

Some of you are a bit delusional, Zion is the best prospect since Oden/Durant but he is not in the level of Lebron. Lebron was literally the perfect prospect , he had it all, playmaking, a freakish athleticism, an absurd defense potential. His only knock down was his shot which was kinda underwhelming.

Zion doesnt have the playmaking and Nola should be happy if he gets to giannis levels(who is above average) in the future.

I mean we have already seen this story before.

Embiid (31 games):
20/8/2 with 1 steal and 2.5 blocks on a 58 TS%

Brogdon (75 games):
10/3/4 with 1 steal and 0.2 blocks on a 55 TS%

Brogdon won ROY over Embiid that year. So Embiid in 31 games couldn't win it over Brogdon who had a very weak rookie year. Why are we supposed to believe that Zion who will most likely end up around that 31 game mark will win it over Ja who is having a great rookie year?

He’d have to average 27/7/3/1 just to even have a look in for the conversation tbh.

Look at those stats and how far ahead Embiid was of Brogdon and then look at how far Ja is ahead of Brogdon.

Zion shouldn’t even be in the convo unless he breaks some sort of records or Ja gets injured the rest of the way.

Yup, 2017 it was like the media was just waiting for someone to take the award, kind of like the year MCW won it. If there was ever going to be a time they were going to give it to a guy who only played 31 games, it was going to be in 2017. This year isn't like 2017 and there is a lack of legit options for a winner. Ja is having a legit ROY kind of season.

Unless Zion goes all Wilt on everyone, I dont see anyway possible way he wins it.

Zion would have had what....seven assists I think if etwan Moore and other scrubs could hit open layups or shots. He can absolutely make plays for others. He's not on LeBron's level of playmaking, but to say he doesn't have playmaking is ridiculous. He used to play pg.

Ya he did dish out 3 assists in just 18 minutes. I also think only 1 of his turnovers came from a bad pass, the majority came from just a loose handle. He was moving the ball pretty well last night and he has always been a solid facilitator.
