Waking up in Europe in to a world without Kobe is just, insane..Like having a nightmare and then you slowly realize it was actually not a dream.

My grandfather died 2 days after my birthday when i was a kid and he was one of my heroes obviously. I idolized Kobe growing up, he was by far my favorite athlete, specially when MJ retired. So many kids basically worshiped him here. Whenever i played basketball i always thought of him first, what would Kobe do and when i would get back home, i would study his game and re-watch the tapes.
We always talked among friends how good he was, he was OUR generations MJ. His passion for the game was unbelievable and in his prime, he ultimately helped Lakers win 5 rings in a span of 10 years, which i think, is also a very underrated accomplishment in his resume.

And to to think that he also died 2 days after my birthday, like my grandfather, it's really a terrible nightmare to wake up from.

Rip to all who lost their lives in that crash. And thanks for all the memories champ

I'm still in tears. Kobe meant more to me than a basketball GOAT. He was an inspiration to me, and proof that the human mind is stonger than science can prove. Kobe taught me that anything is attainable with hard work and no fear to fail. That anyone can rise from anything and become what they want to become. The Mamba mentality is more than refusing to back down, it is refusing to believe that there is even an option to back down.

This has struck me to my core. I have been through something like this only once before in my life: the tragic death of Dale Earnhardt. But even this is almost more shocking and surprising because you knew in NASCAR at that time that there was always a chance of death. You do not expect something like this for someone living their normal lives.

I can't stop thinking about Vanessa and his 3 daughters, one of which will have no memories of her father or sister. I pray that Kobe will be able to inspire us all from the other side, and I know that every one of us now has some Mamba in us!

Rest in Victory Kobe! Thank you for a lifetime of precious memories.

haven't commented on this because I don't know what to say.

So will just say respect to kobe. terribly unfair and so sad.

one thing I did love about kobe, and it was shown in that Dirk moment, in his later years and after he retired he was always very big on cultivating respect between fellow professionals. There are lots of moments where he applauds an opponent or someone playing against the lakers.

Like everyone else, im really shocked by this news and even till now still can't believe it.

I just hope all the fans especially the ones that really looked up to Kobe can find solace that the man has really lived his life to the fullest (in the 41 years he was here) and that he has touched and influenced millions with his work in and out of the court. His a true inspiration that (to me) demonstrates if u really put ur 100% in something u can get some termendous results.

RIP Kobe

Does anybody have any links to great Kobe mixes on Youtube? If so, can you please quote this post and post the links?

Many thanks in advance.

Still doesn't feel real.

I'm still shook and I actively rooted against Kobe a lot throughout his career.

Life is so precious. Cherish every second of every day.

Numb and empty, sitting at work but can't get anything done, just strolling through social media and watching videos on YT. I was never aware of how much he meant to me. I'm a grown man slowly approaching 40, the times I cared about celebrities are long gone. This one is totally different, it almost feels like I lost family. RIP!

I've come to the conclusion that most folks don't really care that you broke one of the rules... they just enjoy telling you that you broke it.

Typically they wait to notify the family first. But TMZ doesn't care, they want the clicks, so they reported Kobe the second they heard it was him. Such a **** situation...can you imagine if you're a member of Kobe's family and you turn on the news and hear it that way?

TMZ is such a scumbag company. I really hate how they fuel the celebrity worship culture and gossip.

I remember first hearing of Kobe as a high school kid and for 20+ years he had me run the gamut of emotions when it came to him. There were points i loved him, points i couldnt stand him. Times i rooted for him, times i rooted vigorously against him. Always respected him. As a sports fan he evoked so much passion and emotion one way or the other and made the experience of watching nba basketball during his time that much better, wherever i fell on the fence at any given moment in regards to him. You want guys who can draw those emotions out of you.

From the time he won the dunk contest as a rookie in Cleveland, to his final game dropping 60, it was a helluva ride. Still cant believe hes gone.

Jerry West in shambles. Very sad. He said he was like a second father to Kobe :(

The weather conditions (fog) were so bad that LAPD air support was grounded. If so, who gave the green light for the chopper to fly??Was it pilot’s opinon? I will not believe any of the passengers pressed for it with kids on the board. I would really like some answers, because if the weather got that bad that fast and after they took of and they couldn’t land (they were circling 15min above LA Zoo) then at least no human error was direct cause..

Waking up still doesn't change the feeling. I'm still in disbelief that Kobe is gone, a legend who is a big reason why I became a fan of basketball. Also his daughter Gibi, who seemed to have a future in basketball is gone, She and her Dad were close sidekicks, I hope they're still together somewhere.

It's also awful knowing Kobe's youngest daughter is too young to remember her Dad and older Sister, heartbreaking.

What's sad is that I keep on imagining what would have gone inside the helicopter. I think Kobe with the way that he was wired, probably did not give up believing til the very end and would have provided encouragement to everyone in there.
