Woke up hoping this was some sad, sick nightmare.
Anyone but Kobe man... why Kobe? There was SO MUCH MORE we were going to get from Kobe. So much more knowledge to come. I am so deeply saddened for his family.
This was God plan for you Kobe. You inspired a GENERATION of GLOBAL basketball FANS to do BETTER to work HARDER to NEVER give up in BALL and in LIFE.
Billy Idol said it best: Only The Good Die Young. While we never get to appreciate the next 50 years of your intellect, passion, inspiration, wisdom and teachings, your death will project you into the GREATEST of GREATS. A God among Kings.
You did it Kobe, you created the greatest Legacy in basketball history. The greatest of inspirational stories that we will be telling our kids and grand-kids and their grand-kids for centuries. Sports is about people, it's about inspiration, it's about hope, it's about teamwork.
Your story is one that will life on forever. Drafted as a 17-year old kid and traded to the greatest franchise in NBA history, you became the greatest player in that franchise's history. You climbed the mountain (3-peat!), fell back down to the deepest of valley's (allegations, infidelity), and climbed back up again (back-to-back!). 5 time CHAMP, 18-time all-star. You showed us that even Heros are mortal and can make mistakes. But it's what you learn from those mistakes and how you react that make up your character. You never gave up, you always out worked everyone else. Relentless determination. You loved your family, and you loved the game of basketball.
Your passing makes us all pause and think, am I wasting my time on trivial things? Am I spending enough time with those who matter the most to me? Am I reaching my full potential? Can I work harder? Can I do more? Can I leave behind a legacy and inspire people change the world?
If you taught us anything Kobe, it's that anything is possible. Do not let anything stand in between you and your dreams.
We love you Kobe. You globalized the game of basketball. You inspired a generation. We will never forget you and we will continue to push the game of basketball forward to reach it's greatest potential and influence, in your honour.
Mamba out, but never forgotten.
RIP Kobe (Aug 23rd, 1978 - Jan 26th, 2020)
Go Raps!!
