I hope GSW flip their pick + the Minny pick for another star in the offseason. This is still salvageable.

Re: Woj: DLo to Minny for Wiggins
I'll break it down for everyone.
Steph, Klay and Draymond went to ownership and decreed that the DLo experiment was over. "He's not one of us", they said. Ownership took what they could get in dumping a player who was not a part of their future. Getting a 20pt scorer and likely lottery pick in a loaded West is a great haul that allows them to add talent to the big3, and also build for the future.

I've always thought Myers was overrated.
Too busy talking to zach lowe and woj as their "sources" rather than understanding the game. pff

DLo is a massive negative asset. No way they give up Covington and take him on. Only fair trade is getting back Wiggins
Nonsense.
DLO has played well this year and has been efficient scoring the basketball. It's wiggins who is a massive negative asset he doesn't play defense and is an inefficient ball hog.
I suppose im a little biased since I watch all their games, but yea DLo has been awful. They have 12 wins for a reason

Right? Wiggins was always viewed as untradeable on Realgm, but he wokeup this season, and maybe Kerr/Curry can get the best out of him.Mamba Mentality wrote:Wow. I guess there really is no such thing as an untradeable contract.
He must be thrilled to be out of Minnesota.

I actually don't mind this for the Warriors.
Culture and environment is everything and playing off Step/Klay and Dray, I think Wiggins will surprise some people next year.

This is excellent. Wiggins is a loser. He plays maybe 35% of the time and the other time he stands around thinking about Fortnite.

I don't think so, since there is no cap room. They would have to get rid of somebody and they just traded for the guy they need to rid of the most. What a disaster. So this is how it ends for this squad.... Even without Durant they had a chance to make some noise and now they all they've done is flip Iggy for freaking Wiggins. They still have a massive hole at center and James Wiseman isn't looking like the second coming of Embiid any longer.

I don't trust player with no motor to become good.
And even if Wiggins becomes good, this is bad value for the Warriors, they could have gotten more. D'lo may not have huge value, but he's a positive asset, while Wiggins is widely regarded as a negative asset. The difference is only a protected first? I could have accepted the deal with something like 3 firsts with light protection, but this way it is ridiculous.
Also, Spellman is good, no idea why they wanted to give him up. At least they managed to include Evans who is absolutely terrible.
Wiggins has never had good teammates other than a guy who needs to be fed in the paint in KAT , he will fit into the system in GSW easily and should have no problem being motivated when he believes it equates to winning. Dlo is not worth more than Wiggins and a first.

Their 2nd leading scorer was Alec Burks, a guy on a minimum contract who is now on his 5th team in 1.5 years. Their 3rd leading scorer is Eric Paschall, a rookie 2nd rounder. Their 4th leading scorer was Glenn Robinson, yet another minimum contract player now on his 4th team in 3 years.
I'm not a huge DLO fan, but the Warriors losing has little to do with him.

Gonna be interesting to watch. Either Wiggins steps up his effort, or Draymond breaks him mentally. I'm hoping for the former, but I would never bet on Wiggins.

Re: Woj: DLo to Minny for Wiggins
Wiggins is a bad contract BUT there are a handful of teams where that doesn’t really matter. GSW is one of them. They are one of the few teams who (probably) don’t care about his salary because:
1) they are capped out anyways
2) they already have 2 (maybe 3?) stars so they don’t need Wiggins to be a star (unlike Minny who has 1 star and was significantly handicapped by Wiggins salary)
3) they print money. Wiggins might only really be worth $13ish a year but they can afford paying $30 (as they really don’t have a way to get a $13 mil contributor)
Capped out, money printing, stars already in place teams like GSW (and both LA teams) are the type of teams that can take on these bad contracts. It’s now just a matter of is Wiggins + picks > DLo and we can’t know that yet.

I'm surprised Russell's value is this low to be honest.

They were 1-6 with Steph Curry and Draymond healthy at start of season, DLo has been a loser his whole career

Re: Woj: DLo to Minny for Wiggins
Unless Wiggins has health concerns or DLo could be dumped elsewhere, Warriors won this trade.
DLo putting up stats on a 12-40 team. Warriors haven't been appreciable better in the games that he has played.
Wiggins fits much better with Curry/Klay/Green. They also get a pick that should be top 10 in a good draft.
Curry/Klay/Draymond will certainly NOT be what they were a few years ago when they won 73 games. That ship has sailed. Father time undefeated but that combination can still be good. And Wiggins still has potential with a good environment and a role where he fits to be better than Harrison Barnes. Barnes the better shooter but Wiggins despite not really progressing much still the better athlete.
All that isn't enough to win another championship but Warriors still have a couple of very good cards to play such as their pick this year and after next season as well.
Wolves would have been better off dumping KAT when he was being overhyped as an MVP and dealing Wiggins before they signed him to that extension. I liked Wiggins coming out of the draft but he didn't progress enough to give him that huge deal. Should have trade both Wiggins and Towns years ago.
I am all for tanking for top talent but teams still have to make ruthless decisions with that top talent if you think the league is overrating the player(Towns -- it was a joke to consider a one way player like Towns a legit future MVP) or that the player will have a tough time living up to his next contract(Wiggins).
I was over 99% convinced that the Warriors wanted to dump Russell when they dealt for him. Trade made no sense otherwise.
Ridicule Warriors for overpaying to rid themselves of Iggy but this was a very good move.
Another reason this works out is Wiggins probably readily accepts a reduced role on a playoff team where he is a beneficiary of all of the defense paid to the backcourt.
Warriors have revived their chances with this move. They were going nowhere with 3 guard rotation or Russell coming off the bench.

What is wrong with the warriors
Fantastic trade for Minny but this makes the Covington trade make absolutely no sense now.

Re: Woj: DLo to Minny for Wiggins
I like it for both teams. DLO is getting way overrated.
Wiggins gives GS a position of need and is a legit 20pt scorer, he will be a 3rd option with all the spacing in the world. Wiggins is entering his prime.
Plus they get a 1st rd pick.
