Give me embiid as size and elite defense over any offensive potential difference in Zion’s favour.

Zion has bigger upside. Embiid has issue with mentality, he won't get anywhere unless he changes that and his approach to basketball.

Zion's defensive potential is elite without a doubt.

Embiid completely stop the offense and needs the ball in the post to be effective. Zion just cutting inside is a massive threat for the opponent's defense.

Yes, without a doubt. Zion ceiling is top 10 all time. Embiid ceiling is around top 50 all time.

This sort of goes without saying but both of their biggest issues is health. If you assume their both healthy I'd say it comes down to Zion's offensive potential being better, and Embiid's defensive potential being better.

Generally speaking when all else is equal you take offense over defense, but I feel like Embiids defense could make up for Zion offense. It's close, but if you offered me a 100% healthy, injury free Embiid or Zion I would lean Zion because I also have some minor questions about Embiid's mindset. Also kinda unfair to compare a guy drafted 6 months ago versus a guy drafted 5.5 years ago.

Yeah. does Barkley and Shaq have to motivate him every game?

If we're not talking about intangibles, then Embiid easily. Skilled big man with elite defence. If healthy, dude has the finesse to age gracefully. Zion simply jumps at people. Dude has hops but lacks finesse which is why he is mainly used off the ball. Players like this don't age well.

I remember that Bill Simmons was saying Embiid looked like he could be the goat big before the draft, and I agreed with him. But his injury woes and mentality probably killed that option.

Zion is so unique that it’s hard to rate him. It’s like Zach Randolph’s playstyle and body type but with much better predispositions, and add the ability to run and jump like a wing on top of that. No examples in history of such a player but I think most parts of his game can age well, because he’s not actually reliant on hops as much as it could seem. I really think Zion has that top 5 all time potential if he stays healthy, I love his game.

That’s not a knock on Embiid I think, being in discussion with a guy who’s a top 5 all time potential is reserved for like 10 players active in the league.

Tough call. You can't teach height, but you also can't teach having a motor.

Well let's see what happens when Embiid has four players around him who can shoot the three ( not a knock on Simmons cause I feel the same way about him)

I don't see championships in Zion's future but I do in Embiid's future. Unless Zion teams up with someone who is actually elite at the skill of basketball.

Zion's generational talent. Embiid's just a big guy, he doesn't have anything special about him besides his height.

Besides, what team wants to build around a C in today's NBA. Maybe if this was the 90's, it would be closer.

I think if healthy Zion has more upside.Embiid has disappointed big time in the playoffs. It's really to early to tell for Zion but from what I've seen so far I'd pick Zion. Also Embiid carries to much drama and it looks like Zion will never have that problem.

The Embiid slander from Raps fans is bizarre to me.

Philly beat the brakes off of the Raps in the playoffs when Embiid was on the floor. His defense was that dominant.

Then the Raps proceeded to quite comfortably take out the Bucks and Warriors.

Raps ended up winning the title, so I don’t get why they’d be insecure about how great/impactful Embiid was in their playoff series.
