Celtics 'Aggressively Pursued' Trade For Davis Bertans

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Feb 11, 2020 7:21 pm

The Boston Celtics "aggressively pursued" a trade for Davis Bertans at the trade deadline, according to Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated.

The Wizards are hoping to re-sign Bertans and resisted trade offers for him as he has a breakout season.

According to Mannix, the Celtics were "willing to go deep into the draft war chest to pry Bertains loose."

The "war chest" of the Celtics is an outdated mode of thinking as they only own this year's first round pick from the Memphis Grizzlies and the Milwaukee Bucks.

They own 3 first rounders this year which is more than any other contender by far. Not an outdated way of thinking at all.

Plus Atlanta and NY/Brooklyn seconds.

I wouldnt disagree with anyone questioning the quality of the war chest, but there's still some assets in there, no doubt.
Our biggest inhibitor is lack of sensible matching salary for almost any meaningful deal.

Danny said no to two firsts. Looks like Mannix is just looking for clicks

Isn't it awesome that Memphis was projected to be a top 5 pick and Ja Morant comes in and makes them a .500 team!

Ainge can only hit on top 10 picks. I guess Rozier was good.
