There should be a stat to show how much more frequent do teams run zone this season compared to before and the points per possession comparison of zone and non-zone defense.

I think there could be a trend where teams would completely not have a center then they would just run some sort of a hybrid zone to non zone defense.

There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

The only way this year’s champion will be from the west is if Lakers added a wing (Iguodala) and if Clippers added a center. Both didn’t.

I think the Clippers have too much elite halfcourt personnel for their lack of size to hinder them.

The champ will come from this pool of teams: Clippers, Celtics, Raptors

Who on the Raptors is taking them across the finish line?

I'm sure synergy or someone tracks this. The teams certainly do, Brown mentioned the other day that their efficiency against the zone was way up lately.

I'm dubious of too much zone working in a playoff series. The reason it's somewhat effective during the regular season is that teams can't take the time to really gameplan for it.

I think the trio of Siakam/Lowry/VanVleet is soooo strong. All can score from all three levels and hit free throws an extraordinary rates.

If the Lakers somehow power their way out of the West, I truly believe the Raptors would dispatch them in 5 games in a Finals.

Strong, but would mark the first time a team has won a championship without a superstar since the Pistons.

Nobody. There's no way they get past us in the playoffs barring injuries. They are a team built for the regular season, just like before last season. Their waves of depth will get devalued when it counts.

VanVleet will get completely neutralized against our length, just like last year. Siakam will get controlled by Ben/Al/Jo. Lowry will get controlled by JRich.

Barring injury, we're the favorites against them.

PG out with a hammy. Pat Bev already dealing with a groin. If the Clips aren't 100% they're vulnerable.

I just think they have their perfect blend of depth, coaching, defense, experience, and strong halfcourt options. If they can avoid the Celtics in the ECF and the Clippers in the Finals, I think they can win the whole thing. I certainly trust them in the halfcourt more than the Lakers, Sixers or Bucks.

Maybe they're not absent a superstar, maybe he's just in the beginning of his superstardom.

I'm sure there is. Bodner was quoting zone defense statistics in his latest Q&A, so I'm guessing its on cleaningtheglass or something

I have this belief that every year contender find ways to counter the best team in the league. Whether it’s playing bullyball against the Warriors or trying to slowdown Giannis this year.

I think the zone can work in the play-offs, specially when they give a lot of freedom in defense (allows physicality).

Raps does this zone to their strength (length and switchability) and to hide their weakness (midget backcourt)

Raptors won last year because Durant and Thompson got hurt. Sugar coasting a strategy is silly.

We'll see if a zone works. Maybe someone should bring John Chaney in to teach the matchup zone.

Houston signs Jeff Green and Carroll to fill their last two spots. 100% committed to small ball.

I think the Rockets are going to win the West, and probably the title.

If Belinelli was to request for a buyout, would you be willing to sign him here? Or we already have too much wings and there is no more minutes for him?

Always room for a certified sniper like Belinelli. Even if he's just used situationally, he could come in handy for the stretch run.
