Kawhi Will Regret Leaving The Raptors
Kawhi Leonard elevated an emerging Raptors team to its first NBA Championship. Upon his departure, many questioned whether Toronto would even make the playoffs. Without Kawhi, the Raptors are cruising. They just rolled off a 15-game win streak and currently have a better record than the Clippers (though, yes, I know, PG has been hurt and Kawhi takes it easy during the regular season).
I'm sad that Kawhi left Toronto. The team has many up and coming players, likable veterans, and one top 20 player (Siakam) who one day will crack the top 10, and maybe top 5. With Kawhi I believe Toronto would have competed for championships for years to come. As he started to decline, Siakam would have been in his prime. Instead Kawhi went to Toronto and forced them to trade for Paul George. The team mortgaged their future to open up a championship window. It's hard to crack that window, and I think any other team in the same position would do the same thing.
But I think Toronto is deeper, better coached (and I'm a Boston fan and I love Rivers), has a better GM, and that, if not already this year, that Siakam will be better than PG, who has suffered too many injuries. The Clippers championship window is only extends for a few seasons, and as Kawhi starts to realize that, I think he'll reflect on what could have been with Toronto, and regret his move.

No he won't. He has 2 championships, is in the prime of his career, playing on the team that people are calling the favorite to win the chip, and is living in the town he grew up in surrounded by people who love him... I think he'll be fine.

Thanks. No one cares about this anymore. Kawhi made a family decision and not a basketball decision. Quite frankly, i'm a Torontonian, and I love it here - but taking the chance to go to LA weather and lifestyle - not have to deal with the cold and having stiff joints? Bye. i'll come visit during the summers.
Kawhi didn't disrespect the Raptors or Toronto, he played his heart out, won a ship, end of story. Get over it. To help, you can watch the Clippers and pretend they are the raptors.

Toronto hasn't got a better GM than the Clippers. We can agree or disagree on other points but this one in particualr was eye popping.
No one is better than Jerry West.

Messi. Jordan. Ali. Bolt. Senna. Serena. Karelin. Phelps. Rossi. Suleymanoglou. The GOATs.

It's a sideways move, both teams are really good. The Raptors only really have a better record because the bottom 2/3 of the East is horrible.

No he won't. He made a family and lifestyle decision. He wanted to go home.
Raptors could win the next five titles and he wouldn't regret that for a second.

he's home, and already has 2 rings and 2 fmvps, he's not regretting anything.

Tell that to Lebron who probably would have made a few less Finals appearances if he always played out west.

It's 16 degrees Fahrenheit in Toronto, he ain't regretting crap. It wasn't a basketball decision why he left.

He was always going home. He mightve stayed for an extra year if the PG trade didnt go through, but that woulda been it. He gots his titles, his money, he's home and he's on a contender. I dont think he has any regrets

It wasn't an easy job to win it with the Raps, it was a huge effort. And it won't be easy with the Clippers either.

OP, is it difficult for you to understand that he never wanted to be in Toronto? Respect the fact that he opened said it and didn't include Toronto on his list of teams.

Even Raptor fans are sick of this narrative. Please, let’s move on.

Masai is overrated.
I dont get how so many people believe in the raptors, they have zero to chance to win it all.

this. Raptors can win it all again and Kawhi wouldn't regret anything (unless Clips get bounced in the first round or completely flop in the playoffs). He just wanted to be home, closer to his family.

Come on dude, we've been throwing out G league lineups for a good portion of the year because of all the injuries. This season hasn't been a cake walk for us. The clippers have lost to some really bad teams like chicago, atlanta, and Minnesota.

Regret implies you could have had it the other way if you acted differently. I highly doubt LA, already have two nba teams, was ever an option for an expansion team.
