1) Dolan is a one-man control freak, and you won’t win in the modern NBA unless you have a group running the show.

2) Talented players see this stuff and ask themselves if this is how they treat team legends and super fans, how are they going to treat me?

Oak needs to get a friggin' life.... I'm over him, injecting himself into everything dolan related... get over it, dude

he's been salty ever since he got Traded to Toronto. **** Oak. I'd Take Camby over you AGAIN and AGAIN and AGAIN.

Knicks fans say F Charles Oakley? Lol. This fanbase deserves being terrible. Pathetic.

This is a customer service issue. Spike was being given crappy customer service. Changing policies is okay and sometimes necessary, and all customers have to comply with the new policies, but good customer service finds a way to satisfy the customer and resolve situations before they become an issue.

An MSG service rep should have called Spike Lee ahead of time to inform him of the new entrance policies. Failing that, someone should have been at the gate entrance to escort him through the facility while explaining to him that next time he'll have to go through the VIP entrance instead of the employee entrance. After the incident someone not named James Dolan should have approached Spike Lee during the game to apologize to him, the paying customer, for the lack of communication before the game.

MSG could have handled this whole situation in a dozen different ways to prevent the PR disaster they have now. Spike Lee may be acting like an entitled VIP but that's because he actually is an entitled VIP. He pays good money for good customer service and he has a right to be upset when that customer service falls short of expectations.

What makes him number 1? Because he has money ? Or because espn told you he was ?
And I don’t side with Dolan, I side with rules are rules. Spike isn’t the only one with money who goes to knick games.

i feel asleep thinking what if this whole thing is planned by rose to get dolan out?

- all of a sudden there's issues with spike
- camera recording the right moment of the escalation?
- spike isn't oakley, he can't be discredited as an angry drunk
- the press release from the knicks was so unprofessional, like intentionally done -- it's literally word for word what dolan said. that thing wasn't edited to sound professional at all -- as if it was intentionally done.

i mean spike usually showed up when a big name came to play the knicks and when the knicks were on national tv so everyone can see him.

I hate this culture where you always have to pick a side and there can be no nuance.

Both Spike and Dolan are right and wrong in this particular instance.

Spike had every right to feel frustrated. But to go on First Take the next day and to show up Dolan by throwing a childish temper tantrum was wrong and hurts not only the reputation of the Knicks organization but Knicks fans in general. It also completely killed the mood after the best win of the season. The level of ego here is unbelievable and I have a hard time defending Spike's behavior. I also hate how they're also using Oakley as some sort of standard of what it means to be a Knick. Oakley playing victim is the funniest sheet ever. I may not trust Dolan but I sure don't trust Oakley either.

Dolan had every right to feel aggravated after Spike's appearance on First Take and to set the record straight. But that statement was unprofessional, childish, inflammatory and unnecessarily aggressive. This was his last chance to diffuse the situation by publicly apologizing to Spike, saying that he tried to communicate the policy change beforehand and that he's sorry that a loyal and valued Knicks fan like Spike felt wronged and that he would ensure that the relationship is restored. But of course in typical Dolan fashion he took it personal, tried to question Spike's integrity publicly by basically calling him a liar (which he might be but that's never been the point) and did not care for the consequences of his actions. Dolan always makes it personal. He's so stupid and immature, it's unbelievable.

can someone please make a poll for this non-story so we can all cast a vote on if we care about some self-proclaimed extra special VIP feeling butt-hurt? then lock this already.

My guess is 90% of fans support Oakley and Spike. It’s just the other 10% have vocal political or personal feelings about entitled rich people.

Years ago this board was filled with what seemed to be a majority of posters who defended Dolan and really loved his mini-authoritarian dictatorship medieval fiefdom approach. It was like people thought having a rich dad was reason enough to trust that everything would be ok.

Nowadays, public sentiment has never been worse for Dolan. If he fails again with Leon Rose, it’s hard to see how he can show his face in the Garden again.

Wanting someone to kill Dolan is really classless. I don't associate with you.

I didn’t even want Donald Sterling dead with all of his racist nonsense. That’s a bit extreme.

This issue has become bigger than it should be. Both are at fault here. The Knicks handled it poorly. It could’ve been the guy working that door who was “feeling himself” too much and trying to flex authority on Spike. This isn’t directly connected to Dolan. He could’ve gone rogue while everybody else always handled it differently with Spike.

Everything that happens at MSG happens under Dolan's direction. If you think people are going 'rogue' and making their own decisions you haven't been paying attention to how Dolan has run MSG since he assumed ownership.

The racism claims by Oakley seem unfounded. For all of Dolan's flaws, nothing points to him being racist.

Oakley has no credibility. I hate when bullies play victim.
