This was great. Also got the other side of the spectrum with that play at midcourt where he lost the dribble and then gave up the score to Carter, illustrating why his handle is not [yet] where you'd want it for a lead guard. Granted Carter is a stellar on-ball defender.

Can't wait to see where he ends up as his skills progress.

Thats what so exciting about him as a prospect for me, he has such impact already and such obvious places to improve.

Stringing together a sequence like that is what used to make me super excited for Giannis when he was a rookie. Its an indicator of a player who will be really good

I went outside to smoke at exactly that time. Missed it all. Wondered how the hell we were up 20 all of a sudden. Re-watching on DVR tonight and looking very forward to this sequence.

Wow, Donte is so awesome he's even trying to motivate you to stop smoking! What a team player!

Unless you're smoking meat or weed. Then carry on.

I think it'll get there, but his handle hasn't caught up to the rest of his abilities, yet. He lost the ball in traffic on multiple occasions last night where he otherwise had the defense out of sorts. Part of what's hurt him at the rim this year, is often being a bit out of control when he's gathering the ball on his way up.

I don't think that word means what you think it means

Other than RiotPunch, fking Skip Bayless may have had the most accurate take on Dino on draft night. My feelings were a combination of gibberish and shtposting, so I was true to my brand fwiw.

Been finishing around the rim much better lately? Or maybe just seems that way cause he's had some really tough buckets.

If your gm doesn’t love scouting, that’s a serious problem.

The post above really was the key one from draft week 2018. Woelfel has always insisted that Donte was Bud’s pick, and we’ve heard other scuttlebutt that direction as well.

We just don’t know how much Bud is involved in player personnel matters. Again, black box. However, since the partnership is working, I don’t care about the structure. These two have it figured out just fine.

I can’t even tell you how honored I am to have PP quote my post. Nowhere to go but down from here.

Also, I completely forgot about that! And, if true, I’d have a similar concern. But you’re right it’s (whatever combination that is) is working

ETA: I rewatched the linked video I shared, and I tend to agree with a poster a couple posts after I shared it that I do think I was taking it out of context. Ah, well, I had reason to be suspicious of Horst.

Bern also killed it with his scouting report of Donte btw

My usual Skip Bayless style HOT TAKE (the guy I would have taken over him was Huerter).

Everybody who commented on this after the draft should go back and quote their initial reaction.
