There is quote, which unfortunately I can’t find right now, about how long it takes to find out if a guy can play or not, and the answer was three hard practices. This was in regards to Darko, and how all the Pistons knew he couldn’t be a player in the NBA almost immediately.

You don’t need to give a guy 2, 3, 4 years to prove he is a bust or not the right fit.

That quote is a silly exaggeration IMO. Darko obviously didn't become a franchise player, but he was still good enough to play in the NBA for 10 years.
