I keep wondering how many other places might look like New York if they were actually doing intensive testing. Scary stuff

A note to those following the "recovered" stats.

When somebody dies, we know it. We can count their numbers.

When somebody is fully recovered, we don't know it until they are re-tested.

I have to speak carefully here, because I'm not saying that anybody has recovered. But I want to say weI don't know how many of those that have tested positive have been continuously re-tested.

IF somebody has recovered, and that's a big IF, it's possible that tests are so scarce that they haven't used up a second or third one that would come back negative for Covid, thus giving them a chance to say they've "recovered". When tests become more abundant, we may learn that many have recovered, we may not. But as for now, that number is very much a question mark for me because I don't know if those who tested positive are being retested every day to see if they're "recovered".

I'm not a doctor. But if my logic here is off I hope somebody will set me straight.

When I look at the word "recovered", i'm thinking they were re-tested and they were negative or they been cleared by a medical person.

Right. So how often are those who have tested positive being re-tested? Every day? Once a week? Ever?

Or are tests prioritized for original diagnoses?

They say they're limited. Not sure how limited.

www.bing/com/covid shows 147 recovered cases in the USA. I have no idea what was done with any of those people? I know New Orleans Saint head coach Sean Payton is nearing the end of this quarantine and I believe tomorrow(Sunday) is his last day of quarantine so I think he's considered "recovered" on Monday.

No it won’t. The death toll would have to be in the millions for people to learn.

We can only hope that is the case and leads to massive changes. We are decades behind the rest of the world in terms on healthcare (while paying twice as much per person), and economical wise we've been playing with fire for years with low interest rates and stock buybacks masking the fact that 78% of the country lives paycheck to paycheck, people have just been getting by for years, and we don't manufacture a whole lot in the country.

On the whole we absolutely will. The Government will as well...just like we learned after 9-11.

I’m not trying to be a jerk, but what exactly did this country learn from 9/11? I could go on a rant about the awful things that came out of it like rampant racism and xenophobia.

I'm not talking about expanding the social safety net. I am talking about learning how to deal with the spread of a virus like this. I imagine we will be significantly more prepared moving forward.

A week from now we are going to be kicking ourselves for not shutting the airports now (or maybe even a week ago)
