Celtics Season Highlights, Podcasts, & Interviews

Post#1 » by zoyathedestroya » Sat Mar 21, 2020 4:34 pm

(Hopefully, this gets stickied. If not, I'll try to post at least one video a day to get this bumped. For those who still need their NBA/Celtics fix even for a few minutes a day.)

A couple of season highlight vids from the ever-reliable Celtics uber-fan Tomasz Kordylewski:

A couple of Paul Pierce interviews/podcast appearances:

One request though -- can we make this thread COVID-19-free even if it's NBA/Celtics-related?

Looks like a good Thread.
Keep working on it, and it may get Stickied.

So I guess my request for this thread to be COVID-free has been denied? I just wished we had this thread as an "escape" from what's staring us in the face every second of the day. Just a bit of refuge. We already have a COVID-thread so no COVID-related posts here. Please?

Oh OK. Sorry about that. I meant to focus on the NBA. Though, it's gonna be kinda tough.
How do we mention the NBA, or anything for that matter, without mentioning COVID-19?

I figure that it was "not focus on COVID-19" ?

2020 Season highlights. Favorite player interviews pre-COVID. Podcast episodes not talking about COVID. Highlight re-mixes. Special feature videos on Celtics players. Imagine a protective bubble if you will. A COVID-free safe zone. NO COVID whatsoever.

Great, Parl. Now we've mentioned the term COVID more times than I intended this thread to lol.

Not gonna lie. I miss the team. It's only been two weeks but it feels like two years.

That video may contain every basket of Javonte Green's NBA career. :)

Okay. So the kid's annoying. But I need the real Tacko Fall to increase his skills like this while the NBA is down.

I think it's pretty cool to look at how the sets are run. Gives you tremendous insight into how we score the points we score. Even gives you insight into how we identify the skillsets we look for at certain positions.

These sets are designed to give the ballhandler multiple options to read at once. I feel like that last set is one that Grant is going to run a ton throughout his career here as his shot hopefully improves.

and that's "MR. Irrelevant" to you!!

More Celtics breakdown porn here:

This double drag and the seal action are staples we've seen all year and have in the past. Shifty ballhandlers who can gain an advantage are required for this set. Once Kemba has the advantage and the roll man breaks Kemba has 3 reads. If the big retreats to the rolling big, he takes it all the way to the hole. If the big steps up, it's a simple hit the roll guy for a layup. If the high defender tries to retreat and get back into the play Kemba can hit the remaining Celtic camped at the top of the arc for a wide open 3. In the past, this was often Horford. I think in the future it will be Grant. Shifty ballhandlers who can get a quickness advantage are so mandatory for the actions Stevens wants to run here.

That seal action, which we've seen a ton with Tatum and Theis is now a staple on pretty much every PnR we run here. The only ballhandler who can't run it is Wanamaker. Off ALL PnRs read the immediate defender's coverage. If he drops, then seal the trailing defender, wait for the roll and inevitable re-seal and take it to the rim. If the roll defender shows high, peel off, wait for the roll and hit him with the drop pass or lob.
and that's "MR. Irrelevant" to you!!

Hayward was one of only 7 NBA players who hit 50%+ from 8-16 ft range (min 1 FGA/game) and 44%+ from 16-24 ft range (min 1 FGA/game). Most of his shots from there came via isolation plays, where he scored 1.16 points per possessions, good for 92.7 percentile in the league (tops on the team).
