I think we will be in better shape up front next year. This June was looking bad with Powell's injury, and TT and KO contract situations.
While KO and TT might decline somewhat with another year, Boucher, Kabengele, Clarke, Lyles and Birch are young/inexperienced enough that improvement can reasonably be expected.

Hard to say whether we will be in better shape re guards/wings.

Seems to me like the guard situation should also only improve. Jamal and Dillon may have reached their ceiling, but at 23yo and 24yo respectively, it's very possible that both are not yet there. Shai (21) and RJ (19yo) should definitely still be improving next year. Same for NAW (21) and Dort (20). The last three (as well as Kanebgele and Clarke) should also be in a better position to commit, as players tend to be more reluctant both before and following their rookie seasons. In Europe, Pangos and Stauskas are injured and were highly unlikely for the 2020 cycle. There's a chance both will be available (if needed) for 2021.

All in all, I can't think of a single Canadian player who's central to the NT and is already on the decline. They are all either at the height of their careers or trending up. Meaning the team should only get stronger with each passing year (at least until Olynyk, TT and Powell begin their descent, but maybe by then they'll already have comparable or better replacements).

Marcus Carr declared for the draft - not signing an agent supposedly. Could jut sbe testing the waters. However with the success of Dort, Boucher, Brissett I continue to expect more Canadian kids to stay in the draft and head to the G even if they are likely not to be drafted.

And Josh Primo has committed to Alabama. Currently projected as a first round pick in ESPN's 2021 mock draft. Keon Ambrose is headed to 'Bama too. Primo is ranked No. 47 on 247sports — and Ambrose-Hylton is ranked No. 115

Some good news:

https://www.espn.com/olympics/story/_/id/28991958/raptors-nick-nurse-committed-coaching-team-canada-olympics-21

2021 could shape up to be a very good year with Nurse committed and a lot of the players available (and, for the young guys, with another year of experience under their belts). A shame that they're in the position of still having to qualify where one bad game can knock them out, but things are still looking up.

What am I missing with Kellen Tynes? Every time I've seen him play he was the best player on the court. Why is he so under recruited? I dont think he has any high major offers.

I really like Kellen, but I don't think he's a high-major prospect. On the plus side, he's got a good first step and ability to get to the rim, terrific defensive instincts, a unique nose for steals, maturity, and probably most important, a winning mentality. I believe he's the only player in Canadian history to win both the U15 and U17 nationals and end up as the MVP in both events. And in both times he did it with an underdog NS team.

BUT, at about 6'2, he's fairly thin, not an explosive athlete, only an okay finisher at the rim, and maybe most importantly he's really not a good shooter (the shot also doesn't look very good and is pretty flat-footed). In short, I think he can be a really good player for a low or mid-major college, but I can't see him succeeding in a high major one and certainly don't see any NBA potential here. Hope I'm wrong, becuase I'd love for a NS prospect to finally make it (Wigginton and Darling are much more likely I think).

What is everyones thoughts on the CEBL? Both in regards to it's business model and competition level.

I live in the city with an NBL of Canada team and I can't help but view that league as half-assed. CEBL seems much more professionally run comparatively. I would like to see the CEBL absorb some NBL of Canada teams and have a countrywide presence.

Thanks for the update.

How many NCAA D1 scholarship players has NS now produced? I believe its seven, but I could be missing some.

Fred Perry
Bryson Johnson
Kenny Perry
Rodell Wigginton
Lindell Wigginton
Nate Darling
Kellen Tynes

(I am not counting Noel Jones, because I believe he was a walk-on at Syracuse.)

And so far only two draftees (Njoku and Wigginton)?

I think this is close to a definitive list (since the early-2000s at least)

Lindell Wigginton -- Iowa State 2017-19 -- Currently in the G-League. Most highly touted NS prospect ever.
Nate Darling -- UAB 2016-18 / Delaware 2019-present -- Averaged 21 PPG/40% from 3. Fringe draft prospect.
Bryson Johnson -- Bucknell 2009-13 -- Was one of the best shooters in the NCAA during this time
Rodell Wigginton -- Buffalo 2014-16 -- 6th man on a good Buffalo team that made the tournament both of his years there
Chris Johnson -- St. Bonaventure 2011-13 -- Averaged 13 PPG as a senior.
Jace Colley -- Chicago State 2019-present -- Transferred from Holland College (PEI). Started every game at Chicago State so far.
Gentry Thomas -- UC Riverside 2015-17 -- Rotation player/occasional starter.
Corey Hallett -- Central Michigan 2002-03 / Monmouth 2004-07 -- Consistent starter at Monmouth
Nevell Provo -- Loyola (MD) 2015-18 -- Former teammate of Wiggins at Huntington Prep. Transferred to Saint Mary's (Halifax) to finish his career after playing very little at Loyola
Kenny Perry -- San Francisco 2007-08 -- Transferred to Vanier College in Montreal after one uneventful year at San Francisco
Noel Jones -- Syracuse 2012-14 -- Walk-on.
Kellen Tynes -- Montana State 2020-24 -- 2020 #12 on NPH. 2020 NPA MVP. Best Nova Scotian HS prospect since Wigginton.
Lorenzo Downey -- Currently at Orangeville Prep. Uncommitted but has an offer from Towson.

Also, Fred Perry played all 5 years in CIAU (St. Francis Xavier), and Will Njoku remains the only Nova Scotian ever drafted (from a CIAU team no-less) as Wigginton went undrafted. Njoku got cut during pre-season however.

Thanks. I guess I am bit out of touch since having moved away. Had no idea about some of those guys.

Re Fred Perry, I could have sworn he played a year of NCAA before going to X, but maybe it was just an offer that he turned down.
